Supporters of the complete ban on paraquat, glyphosate and chlorpyrifos and their opponents are gearing up for a show of force today, ahead of tomorrow’s vote by the National Hazardous Substances Committee (NHSC) on whether to completely ban the three toxic farm chemicals, or to uphold its earlier decision to just restrict their use, a restriction which came into force yesterday.

PHUKET: Two young women escaped serious injury when the car they were driving slammed into the back of an 18-wheeled truck waiting at a set of lights early this morning (Oct 21). The car caught fire, with passers-by rushing to the women’s aid and safely recovering them from the vehicle.

Airport biometric systems catch 45,000 overstayers, 1,000 on blacklists

Using an advanced biometric system, 16 international airports in Thailand have found more than 1,000 people on blacklists and watch lists, over 45,000 who overstayed in the kingdom, and about 700 who have arrest warrants, Immigration Police chief Lt-General Sompong Chingduang said on Monday.

Dean & Deluca owner, Thailand's Pace defaults on debt of $86 mln

BANGKOK, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Thai property firm Pace Development Pcl, owner of the high-end grocer Dean & Deluca, said on Monday it was in default of 2.6 billion baht ($86 million) with one of the nation’s largest lenders as of Oct. 18, sending its shares down 25%.
