UK police find 39 bodies in a truck container

LONDON (Reuters) - British police found the bodies of 39 people in a truck container at an industrial estate to the east of London on Wednesday.

 

Police said the truck was believed to have come from Bulgaria and to have entered Britain at Holyhead in Wales on Saturday. The driver, a 25-year-old man from Northern Ireland, has been arrested on suspicion of murder, police said.

 

“We are in the process of identifying the victims, however I anticipate that this could be a lengthy process,” said Chief Superintendent Andrew Mariner.

 

“We have arrested the lorry driver in connection with the incident who remains in police custody as our enquiries continue.”

 

The emergency services said the bodies were discovered in the container at Waterglade Industrial Park in Grays, located by the River Thames about 20 miles from central London.

 

The 39 victims, 38 adults and one teenager, were all pronounced dead at the scene.

 

“Such tragic news on loss of life,” Brandon Lewis, a junior interior minister said on Twitter. “Thoughts are with victims, their families & friends. Police are working to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”

LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was appalled after 39 bodies were found in a container east of London.

 

“I’m appalled by this tragic incident in Essex,” Johnson said.

 

“I am receiving regular updates from the Home Office and will work closely with Essex Police as we establish exactly what has happened,” he said. “My thoughts are with all those who lost their lives & their loved ones.”

Sad and horrified rip lost souls

The white container in the videos of the crime scene, is an air-tight 'Reefer' refrigerated container.

 

Death by suffocation a certainty within a few hours of them closing the doors with 39 people inside.

 

This type of death during the smuggling of illegal immigrants is relatively common.

  I feel so sorry for their relatives and friends who might wait somewhere not knowing what had just happened to them.

More than a tragedy this is an atrocity that should destroy any concepts that the western world is any different to any other part of the world when the outcome is due to the manipulation of the poor and desperate  for the sake of  callous greed!

RIP to the victims indeed.

But but but such a thing doesn't happen in the Western, according to the experts on thaivisa forum, and human trafficking as well, let's just face it, the member countries of the communist EU are literally helping human traffickers, they are standing few miles away from Libya ready to ship them into Europe, there is more and more brutality going on, and soon the Europe is done because of the EU and those soft political correct countries accept this, get rid of EU and Schengen if you want security,law and order, the Aussies know how to deal with this. If you don't put a dignose on the problem Europe face , then how could you solve it.

 

This is really disgusting, but you can't solve anything in that part of the world when those beaucrats in Brussel have stolen sovereignty and democracy from member states, lawless Europe. Rip 

Britain needs to ask itself why it is such a magnet for these people. Perhaps cutting out all the virtue-signalling would help.

Asylum regulations, benefits (including housing and ability to bring relatives later), existing migrant communities/diaspora for all migrants and rate of hourly pay. 

 

That's about it. Add them all up, better than most other Western nations. I mean, just look how many Poles there are in Britain and Poland is a developed nation. (Obviously asylum regs don't apply for Poles and they can come legally.)

Did you ever see how many UK citizens are living in Spain?  

 

I think a large part is also the result of the language. A lot of people learn English. So if you want to leave your home country the UK can be a nice destination.

 

 

Richard Burnett, chief executive of the Road Haulage Association, said travelling from Bulgaria to Essex via Cherbourg, Rosslare, Dublin and Holyhead would take "three to five days in total".

"Because of the migrant issue at Dover and Calais, you've got far more checks that are taking place there," he said.

"You've got heartbeat monitors, you've got dogs, you've got CO2. Those checks are done as you drive through.

"Cherbourg, because it's a low-volume port, you probably won't have the same security measures that they have in Coquelles [Eurotunnel terminal] or Calais.

Essex Police has said it believes the lorry is from Bulgaria and arrived in Wales at Holyhead, on Saturday

It is sad it happened.

 

It is sad  many people die daily worldwide , for many stupid reasons. 

 

Should/can we be compassionate for all of them, every time?

 

Or is it more common/simple to be selective?

What good does 'compassion' do except let the soppy hearted feel good? they call it virtue signalling. Better to put more resources into stopping people smuggling and sending them back home when caught.

It's always sad for someone when a person dies, no matter where or how.

But, as you say the virtue signallers are more to blame than anyone else.

Even in this case when the individuals are identified repatriate the bodies and let their home country sort everything out.

Don't tell me their families back home didn't know what was going on. They were waiting for the 'immigrants' to have have their court case fought and paid for them so joining them later in the UK would be on the cards.

Repatriating their loved ones for burial at home expense might just spread some kind of word.

You find reason in this event to blame the 'western world'?

These 'poor and desperate' migrants pay thousands to make their trip. They apparently have more disposable income than I have.

Tell that to the trafficking/narco mafia who are paid 10 thousand pounds by these illegals. They were all strong healthy muslim men on a criminal endeavour. A tragedy no doubt,unfortunately one that will be repeated until the uk tightens up its immigration laws which we,ll be able to for when we leave the eu,Britain is a skint little over crowded country,we simply cannot afford any more migrants we no longer have an empire or colonies and should stop punching above our weight in international affairs.

What a load of tosh!

 

The identity of the victims hasn't been revealed, nor the starting point of their travels. All that's known is they're dead, arrived in a Welsh port by ship from Bulgaria and were then driven to Essex in an air tight transport causing their death.

 

Illegal transportation of illegal economic migrants is a growing business. Partly because of the silly left liberal politicians who want to welcome them, give them all sorts of handouts, and let them stay and partly because the response to this has increased the number of people willing to pay a lot of money to take advantage.

 

There are plenty of laws. which are difficult to enforce due to resources and political interference.

 

Brussels haven't stolen sovereignty at all. It's another urban myth perpetuated because people can't be bothered or are too thick to research the reality which is easy to do. Did you miss the EU elections btw?

 

This tragedy is caused by the inequalities around the world and people being encouraged by left wing liberals to come and live in Western countries. They can't do it legally so do it illegally.

 

The UK will face an even bigger challenge should the Stalanist Corbyn get into power as he as stated Labour policy will be open door immigration with no requirements whatsoever - all welcome!

While i am sorry that they are dead ,they were safe in Bulgaria ,so why were they trying to get to Britain ,could it be for handouts? once the govt stop looking after illegal immigrants and spend more on the people who paid into the system,things like this will not happen .
