Every time there is an article like this, the culprit is always a mule. Never hear of asses or donkies transporting drugs.  No doubt there are some good mules out there who do the right thing, but there is a definite pattern emerging.  Perhaps all mules should be held in detention camps until a solution can be found?

Why not use the same punishment that Thailand gives to foreigners? Fight the stranger with the same weapons as he does.
Death penalty, something Thailand loves. Come on Widodo!

Wow, so you are really cheering for these two girls to be put to death?   How utterly disgusting.

And Thailand has executed three people in the last 15 years, and only one in the last 10.

How did the Authorities know the women had swallowed a kilo of meth?

One of those women looks like she swallowed half of Bangkok!

KFC will be missing her for a few years!

Once again the Thai news is wrong. The women caught on the 21st of October have not even been to trial. 2 Thai men caught in February were sentenced to 16 years in jail on Oct 17th. Shoddy reporting indeed.

Two Thai men were sentenced to heavy 16-year jail terms in Indonesia on Wednesday after swallowing a kilogram of methamphetamine in a foiled drug smuggling bid.

A district court in Bali handed down the sentence, which was less than the 18-year terms that prosecutors demanded for Prakob Seetasang, 30, and Adison Phonlamat, 20.

The pair were arrested on the Indonesian holiday island earlier this year after arriving on a flight from Bangkok.

They declined to launch an appeal against their sentence after they were found guilty Wednesday.

“After discussions, we as the representatives of the defendants have decided to accept the verdict,” lawyer Aji Sibalan told a panel of judges.

The Thai nationals would also have to pay a fine of IDR2 billion (US$142,000) each or spend an extra year in jail, said presiding judge Heriyanti.

Desperation and greed, combine that with low class education and the end result is a large part of their life spent in a foreign prison.

Thai's really have no understanding of how severe the law can be outside of Thailand and often learn the extremely hard way.

What about all of the people from western countries who do the same thing?  Most of them do not have "low education" and although they are not from Thailand they do understand about the dangers and the risks inherent in smuggling of drugs but they still do it.  Do not point the finger at the few from one country who perform such act when people from other nations do the same.  Example, not very long ago, a couple of Canadian females tried to smuggle a couple of suitcases full of illegal drugs into Australia while they were on a cruise ship.

'nuf sed.
