Overstay: South African arrested after report from hotel in Mukdahan

A 61 year old South African man was taken into custody after immigration police received information from a hotel in Mukdahan.

 

Officers were out on patrol using am electric "smart car" armed with the PIBICS system when they were informed of suspicious behavior by the Sap Mukdaphum Place Hotel. 

 

A check was made in the car and it was discovered that the suspect had entered Thailand on May 5th with permission to stay until June 3rd. 

 

When confronted at the hotel the data was found to be correct and he was taken into custody on 146 day overstay in the kingdom.

The news follows revelations that the PICBICS system broke down on Sunday to Monday with thousand of arrivals and departures left unrecorded on the system, reports Thairath.

 

How unlucky was the overstayer.

Me too.I stayed in a hotel the whole weekend and no ID was asked.
