Yes, or you can apply for a Non O in Thailand if you’re planning to go for a 1 year extension.

It’s better, if available, to get one in your home country before travelling.

As always, beware when planning to enter Thailand visa exempt that your airline will likely require you to have an onward flight reservation out of Thailand before allowing you to check in for your flight to Thailand. Usually, it is pretty easy to get, at least, s single entry Non O to visit your spouse before travelling.

I'm from england but i'm working in vietnam,so i won't be travelling from my home country

that's why i asked if you can change a plane visa into a non o visa going to loas,i will have

a return ticket,so i can change the visa then is that correct.

i assume you are calling a 30 day visa exempt entry a plane visa, so entry on that and either get a 60 day visit Thai wife extension from local immigration once in Thailand, your wife will have to be with you when you apply, or travel to savannakhet, Laos or while in Vietnam HCMC and obtain a multi entry non immigrant 'O' visa for being married to a Thai national, no financials are required at either place.

Actually there would be no change when you apply for a non-o visa in Laos. Your 30 day visa exempt entry will be gone as soon as you leave the country.

No problem to do what you want fo to do. But as said you could apply for the non-o visa before leaving Vietnam if you have time to do it.
