 If you go alone, don't forget to get her to sign copies....They don't ask for a KR2, but I always take one...

Going myself around the same time.  I think you listed everything; she needs to sign the ID copy.

I think Monday is a day to avoid. I believe that is one of the days when the visa run companies turn up.

If your wife has done a name change. Differs from house book. You need that certificate perhaps. You will making an extension.

 

If you do have the 400k. Update the book, make a copy. Bring the book. Can't hurt.

I've done it (many years ago) at savanakhet - as well as six extensions.

 

I'd rather go with everything I could possibly need rather than a minimum and get turned away and be SOL.

 

If you are referring to the housebook, my wife's name was changed and it was an issue.

 

If you are referring to the bank book. I believe nearly every other embassy, consulate requires. So why not?

 

A smart person would go with everything. A not so smart person would go with the minimum and hope it all works out based on a bunch of strangers first, second hand reports.

 

Then again you could just be looking for a reason to complain.

Its not a reason to complain, but it does confuse folks who may not have done it before to give them a list with items that aren't required; such as the bank book since there is no financial requirement for the Non O via Savannakhet.  I understand your point about being prepared, but ... folks just want the minimum / required docs ... not a complete list of everything they MAY need.

Guess I've got lucky then, either that or there aren't many black pens in Thailand.

I always took two signed copies of everything.

They could have played 'spot the difference' if they had wanted.

But they never bothered, all they wanted was the money, can't see that changing.

OP must have upset them in some way is more likely.

Thank you for the useful answers. I'm avoiding Monday, which was planned. I am having a night to sleep the trip off.  Also the bodyguard aka wife will be with me.

You don't need financial support.  (Take it if you're insecure about not having it, but do NOT give it unless asked. You might give them ideas. As if the need them. ????) BTW, HCMC does not require financial info either, but they do request a letter from the wife.

Did my NON O marriage last week. Posted my experience earlier on TVF. No paperwork changes from last 5 NON O at Savannakhet. I would not worry about visa run company days now due to difficulties acquiring a visa in Savannakhet. Numbers on Thursday was 6 visa company people. Total applicants at consulate 25. On Monday visa company 11 people. Total at consulate 30 people. On Friday total applicants 8 people.

I applied for a non-immigrant multiple entry visa based on marriage at the Savannakhet consulate earlier this year and was only granted a single entry based on the fact that some of my documents were scanned & printed rather than photocopied. The reason provided was that the scanned documents were slightly larger than a photocopy and they might be faked so because of that I was only provided a single entry. No point trying argue. ????

Of course Thai phones work over there.  I use mine in Laos, Cambodia, Philippines all over the globe.  I just call True and tell them I am traveling and sign up for a roaming package.  And ... presto.

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't there the requirement for your wife to write a simple handwritten and signed letter letter asking that you be granted a visa on the basis of your marriage?   Seem to recall this from previous threads.

Don't confuse people or give Consulates further unneccessary ideas for future reference.

16 years and counting, still never shown, nor needed a bank book shown.

This was true about 10 years ago but my phone w/ Thai Sim card worked along with the exorbitant roaming data charges but it worked. Best to get a local Lao Sim card unless you are an idiot like me who thinks "How expensive could it be to turn on data just for a few minutes?"...

dont go on next Monday is the lao holidays so the  consulate  will be close lol

 

if you stay around Mekong river your Thai sim card will work, like i have unlimited net with true and  have the 4g signal around there
