A famous Dutch prison director once said: "there are more crazy people in my prison then there are in the specialisized clinics". And "Crazy" is just a word I use as I do not a better word translated from Dutch to English.

a common saying in usa psychiatric hospitals is "the way to distinguish staff from patients is staff wear ID badges"

The use of ‘it’ is a commonly used demeaning pronoun.

Disgusting and very sad all round.

i think "it" comes from google translate because it is not too accurate thai to english and often not highly accurate.

And you wonder why the Thai govt is cracking down in so many ways to force even good ex-pats into a position where they will have to leave the country. It's due to idiots like this.

Lol. What world are you living in? I feel like everyone on Thai Visa is just really poor or something. All the expats i know are scratching their heads about Thai Visa folks as none of what they say rings true at all based on our personal experiences here. I feel compelled to speak up and say "no, we dont all feel like this". I've never once felt unwelcome in Thailand. And honestly, if you can't figure out how easy the visa stuff is, you prob don't  deserve to be hear. Evolution and survival of the fittest are sweet like that.

I know we are not the brightest lot here at TVF, but does no one recognize this man is having psychotic breakdowns? All the facts in the article, if true (the BIG assumption in all these articles), give a fairly clear indication. Drugs test and psych review should have been conducted to draw the conclusion. The prisoner held in protective custody until committed and transferred to US custody for deportation. The embassies have the procedures in place for this sort of mess, the Thais or the patient’s family just have to follow them.

and, sometimes, instead of endless, mindless bashing, TVF members might try reaching out to a friend on the inside of Thai society and putting in a word.

This is thailand mate.

If a foreigner does something extraordinary then the locals will jump on it.

No compassion here.

Just racism

until he has had a psychiatric report then people should hold fire. I realise that in the USA they lock up mentally ill people rather than treat them but  civilised countries  have more compassion.  He may not even  have a mental illness but be suffering from Tourettes syndrome. People who complain he is a redneck and should be sent straight to prison without knowing the full facts behind  this are more of a redneck than he is.

Well, there are some fb posts of his, in this thread, no doubt he has mental issues, but the guy is boasting about having been repeatedly to jail, so it appears that his psychotic breakdown is lasting quite a long time.

Actually in the US we don't lock them up, we just let them sleep in parks, live on the streets and fill up homeless shelters.

Yes, his posts claim he is being watched 24-7, 365, by the CIA. Which is silly, it is the NSA which is tracking him and who put the chip in his brain.

What about his two young daughters?

As drunk and crazy as he may have been on this and, reportedly, other occasions, is it fair that they will pay the highest price if you boot him out?

Now, perhaps he is sufficiently crazy to be a danger to them, in which case, okay, they might be better off without him too. To ascertain that, however, he needs to receive some form of care, some form of assessment, possibly even some form of treatment. To say "just" deport him sounds good, but is is not a good match for the complexity of all human beings.

I'm not holding out much hope, but the poor bast*rd might have some good in him too.

Well, one has to assume that even the most derelict, insane and unforgivable have some potential for redemption. But, that requires a society that is willing to invest an awful lot in "lost causes". Thailand does not engage in much in the way of social work. LOL. So, who is going to do this work?

Best to send him home, where he at least has a possibility of receiving some treatment. It looks like he is causing an awful lot of grief here. What is your solution? Just let him roam the streets, terrorizing the locals forever?

Daughters or no daughters, the problem remains the same. Kids are not saints. They are just small people. Sure they need care. What kind of care do you think they are receiving from farang baa mak mak?
