Hi Speed Internet Options In Condo

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm living in a condo in bkk that has a network connection in each room... which theoretically gives everyone in the building access to the internet... I'm paying 400baht pcm on top of my rent for using this service.

From my experience so far I'm guessing that it's a single 1mbps pipe. When the building is empty I occassionally reach d/l speeds of 97kbps, but once the majority of residents return home from work at around 5pm until 2am it sucks... you can imagine... 60 people sharing a single 1mbps connection... it's a complete waste of time. Also, I have no access to the router admin, so I can't setup port forwarding for p2p apps (big problem for me). There's no way the owner of the building will allow me to install my own phone line in order to get my own private Internet connection... so I was wondering, are there any alternatives? Such as a dial-up connection that connects to a high speed connection (if u know what I mean)?

I'd b eternally grateful if anyone can advise or suggest a way forward - apart from moving to another condo ;-)
