Applying for Non-O Extension at Bangkok

Recommended Posts

Hi Forum

So looking to apply for non-o extension tomorrow based on having a child that's Thai Citizen (Me and my wife are not married but have been de facto for years now. NB we have been together for over 12 years - I'm from New Zealand and we had our child there - he's 5 now and we look to stay here in Bangkok for her family reasons)

Thought I'd contribute to this forum as I've stressed plenty to getting everything right for this extension and looked through a few threads.

I went to the bank today to get proof of my monthly income - I got a savings account through Bangkok Bank within the first month I was here - I needed my mrs thai ID and I also went to get an affidavit from the embassy stating my NZ and THAI residentual addresses as well as certifying my passport to open the account)

The proof I got today was a mere printout stating the last 2 monthly deposits (Yes im doing the 40,000 per month minimum requirement for finance) which did state the funds were FTTXX. (I made these transfers through TW)

Although they said they would not date stamp it or sign it (Although the printout did state that signing was not necessary) Has me a little worried - The teller was also a bit clueless tbh

I am in my last 30 days (or week to be specific) of my 90 day visa.

I'm also going in with

My passport and certified copy

4x6 Photo

Departure card

TM7 form

My address affidavit

Sons Birth cert

Partners ID and Address papers

Photos with my Family in NZ and also photos of the front of her house with house number and right outside house (been seeing this may be needed? better safe than sorry)

Transfer wise receipts just incase (The amounts do match the printouts lol)

Anyway. I'll let ya'll know how this goes!

(I'll also attach a photo of the printout that I got from my Bank as income proof)

Does your son have a Thai birth certificate issued by the Thai embassy in New Zealand.

If yes has he been registered in a house book to get a Thai ID number.

If yes to the above have your legimized your parenthood. You are not considered the legal father of your child unless that is done. You will need that to apply for your extension.

This is where it' had been confusing! My partner is out right now but I kinda had this problem at the embassy.

My partner insisted that he doesn't have a birth cert yet???? (My partner is out right now but gna hit her up again as soon as shes back - I know for sure he hasn't been registered for the house papers yet) He does however have a Thai passport.

And legimizing my parenthood too?? Whhhhhattt!

Now i'm more than a little worried.

Edit: F*** i just read about Legitimation of a child.

I did not run into this information at all!

Although I have plenty of evidence on required grounds. FML

Edit again: Fk it. Just spoke with my partner and she is certain we haven't got the birth cert issued.

We called up immigration last week and she asked to confirm what we should bring and she said just "Have what's on the website"

Which we got. So we're just gna go with that and see what happens.

Edit edit edit:

Now that I think about it - I forgot over the phone that the person we spoke with said that I had to bring my son in with us so we can submit an affidavit.

Looking at the site this might be somewhat correct

"An affidavit must also be submitted confirming the alien’s
marital or parental status with a Thai national."

I am certain he has a Thai birth certificate since that is a requirement to get a Thai passport.

You may already be considered his legal father since the that is part of birth registration registration at the embassy. Info here. http://www.thaiembassy.org/wellington/th/services/2962/36202-การจดทะเบียนเกิดบุตร-(ขอสูติบัตรไทย)--Birth-Certi.html

He still needs to be registered in a house book to get a Thai ID number. That will be required to for him to renew his passport also.

Thanks so much for you advice/help.

My partner STILL insist there is no thai birth lol. She is so stubborn - I was there with her at the embassy back in NZ when we were sorting this out but obviously they were all speaking Thai through the dealings - Normally I always take care of ALL the paper work in NZ and responsible for everything!) I hope some how she is proved wrong and we run into it stashed away somewhere or something!

Anyway - Hopefully come back with good news after tomorrows visit.

Didn’t go well at all.

in the end my son is missing a few things here and that wasn’t even the part that shocked me. They told me it HAS to be 400k in the bank 2 months before the application because I’m applying to stay for one year. Didn’t consider the 40k a month at all. Don’t know what to do now quite stressed.

my visa runs out on Sunday. What should I do? Pretty sure can’t extend another way. We still waiting to find out anything else we can do but right now it just seems like border running but that just cancels out my O?

You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your son to get more time to apply for the one year extension near the end of the 60 days.

So.. amateur mistake - My son and partner only came here a few months ago and my son hasn't been officially registered for house papers yet.

Therefore couldn't get the 60 days.

I got given 1 week.

My plan is to leave to Laos to try redo my non-imm O.

But still, even when I'm done it. I don't have access to the 400K baht and is why I went with the '40K per month' that I been seeing all over the internet and on their website https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_18

They honestly just shut me down right away when I went through document checking and were like "You don't have the 400k" you won't be approved.

I keep trying to bring up that 40K was stated on their website but they keep insisting that 400K was the only way. I'm so triggered. Update your fkn Website if thats the case.

They could of been flexible and accepted his Thai passport as additional proof he is Thai. That is all the house book is for.

Which office is saying you can only use the 400k baht option.

Since you have proof the 40k baht was transferred from abroad it should of been enough. But since you are from New Zealand you can do a statutory declaration to prove you income at the NZ embassy Bangkok prove your income.

Do you have proof of the source of your income?

Yeah we had his passport with us. But nope... That's all that said they can do for us.

It's the Bangkok immigration: Government Complex at Chaeng Wattana.

I was first told during document checking by the officer and her little support crew.

Then when I went to the counter with the officer was told by someone that looked like a supervisor.

They kept saying "You needed the 400K sitting in the bank 2 months before this application" and kept refusing to discuss further about the 40,000 per month with my partner.

Currently the source of my income is sponsored by my parents. Basically supporting with what is to be a portion of my inheritance.

But yeah they didn't even bother to look at the printouts of my deposits.

That could of been due to you not having income proof from the New Zealand embassy. They are aware of the countries that cannot get one and prefer proof income from your embassy over the transfers to a bank account.

Hmm.. I'll see what I can do for next time then..

I'm planning to goto Laos next week to apply for a non-o again. Any tips?

This time around I will have all of my sons docs prepared lol.

Are they quite strict on finance requirements?

Will you have a copy of you son's house book registry? If not his passport and copy of it should be accepted.

You need his original birth certificate and a copy of it.

No financial proof is needed to get a single entry non-o visa.
