Korean Passport 90 days again?

Featured Replies

Wife entered Thailand with 90 day visa exemption.

She'd like to 're-up' for another 90 days.

Woman at immigration office said she could fly out, fly back in, get another 90 days no problem. Is this still the case?

What about doing a land border crossing instead?

We are in Hua Hin: would that mean we would just go to Kanchanaburi/Burma crossing and come back the same day? Do we need to use a service or can we do on our own?

Many land border crossing will not allow you to do a border hop for the 90 day entry you are allowed.

The Ban Phu Nam Ron crossing in Kanchanaburi is one of them. This from a visa run companies website that does runs to there.

"Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Chile and South Korea CAN’T  get 90 day visa exempt stamp at this land border crossing. Need fly OUT/IN, apply Thai Visa or contact us."

The next nearest crossing to Hua Hin is the crossing at Ranong to Myanmar. No sure what their policy is for the 90 day border hops.

Your only option may be to fly/out and back. There are flights from Hua Hin to Kuala Lumpur on Air Asia.

Thanks @ubonjoe

I was worried about that. Sounds like a flight is the best bet then. I wanted to check out Ranong, but maybe not worth the hassle.

Flying out/in does not guarantee she will be granted entry — in the current climate. If she has already spent 3 months in the country, and is looking for 3 more, she might — at the very least — get questioned about what she’s doing in the country so long. Visa exemption is not meant for long term stays.

Getting a Tourist Visa (TR) should help, and is recommended if she’s planning to repeat this cycle every three months. But even that’s dodgy these days. A TR would also enable her to use the less prescriptive land borders.

Either would be good.
