It's 2 at vast majority. 3 at Jomtien and couple of others. Which imm office do you deal with?

CW is 2.

At Jomtien it depends upon who you talk to . In reality they are only asking for 2 months.

I was under the impression from reports here that 2 months is accepted at Jomtien. (Won't stop me taking proof of 3 next week though.)

Jomtien ask for 2 months prior to application and 3 months after extension approved. After that cannot drop below 400 k , but must go up to 800 k again 2 months before next application cycle.

Don't forget the 400,000 for the rest of your life.

Does that matter? Who is going to be retired here and have less than 400k in the bank?

Can't understand this one... As far as I'm aware.  After retirement visa is granted on 800k basis...... The money must stay for full year for extension. Not reduced.

Now I read for extension, money only needs to be there 2 months. Am I missing something..... I have had retire visa for 8 years.  Now in huahin.... Am I keeping 800k in bank unnecessarily?

I know many, as myself, who don't have 400000 Thb on a Thai bankbook.

Not requested by Immigration for many nationalities to get an extension.

So far, for me as Belgian, I don't need to prove any amount on a Thai bankbook, nor mandatory to transfer any amount to Thailand if I don't wish to.

It doesn't mean that I and many doesn't have that amount, or more, in our home bank.

In March the requirements changed. Previously, for renewal, it was 800k, seasoned for 3 months, which could be accessed when the extension was issued. In March this year it became 800k pre-seasoned for 2 months (same as new application before), which must be held for 3 months after the retirement extension is granted, and then could be reduced to not less than 400,000 baht.

How far in advance can you get the bank letter for Jomtien? Is a letter from the day before acceptable, or do I need to get it the same day as the extension? How about updating my bank book, same day or day before is ok?

Does the location of you and your bank make it impractical to do it on the same day? It is just that I got to my bank at 08.30 in Central Pattaya, got the letter and updated the book, and was in immigration submitting my paperwork at Jomtien before 10am.

I can do that, but would prefer to do it the day before and get to Jomtien just as they open.

Why, you simply end up in a line behind all the early risers? It may have been crowded and busy when I arrived yesterday, Monday, usually a busy day, but soon after 10am, I had 4 ahead of me, and waited just 20 minutes. This was for Retirement Extension. Obviously avoid the days after the upcoming holidays, 5th and 10th I believe.

I read Jomtiem accept letters from the bank that are a day old, but was unsure wrt the book being updated, and choose simply to eliminate the possibility of any refusal.

Thanks for the first hand, current report on the situation now. I'd still be interested if anyone else has information as well.
