Pattaya: More bad news as resort blanketed in health threatening smog

Thai media reported that PM 2.5 particulate matter blanketed Pattaya yesterday afternoon.

The reading on the Air Visual application touched 162 micrograms per cubic meter at 3.30 pm.

There was haze throughout the city and at the beach, said 77kaoded. .

This level exceeds World Health Organization limits and represents a possible damage to health, they said.

Pictures published by the media showed limited visibility

They said this had not happened before and that so far no authorities had made moves to explain or caution why this was happening.

This haze or smog pops up 1-2 times during the winter season-no big deal.  It will soon go away. Nothing to panic about.

I’d worry more about daily the bumper to bumper bus fumes contaminating the air.

Still quite hazy today.

What moral conditions will be characteristic of society in the last days of Pattaya?

There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.”

We all have to die sometime but rumours of it's death have been greatly exaggerated. If Pattaya dies then Thailand dies with it.

Pattaya is not a place I want to live but regardless all of thailand has 2.5 more than it doesn't for at least 4 months a year. I will renew my ext this year but I am checking out vietnam and probably will be there at least 6 months each year from this point on. Women are harder to socialize with there but I need to prioritize health and I literally ONLY hear good things about the place.

Ya gotta give them credit, considering one whole side of Pats is water, sea, toilet, whatever... to reach that 2.5 level have to work double hard

Just something you have to accept if you live or come here.  Bangkok is worse.

If God still believed in the old testament you'd probably be correct. New Testament (the Good News) is more forgive and forget and raise prices. ????

i forgot the part about being cast into a lake of fire for all eternity when you die.

Smog is a lot better today, still not good, but better.

Don’t worry Its still considered fresh clear air for Indian standards.

Must be the clouds of weed smoke presently enjoyed at the City hall over all those new projects of Monorail, possible sub-marine stop, hi-speed railway hub, the Indian's endeavours to copy/paste Nana Entertainment Complex in The Avenue, the various coloured bus lines and the sheer happiness over the tremendous traffic jam along Beach Road, Second Road, Central Road and all this in midst of the "High Season".

The only things high, it seems, is the metered reading of pollution for which they will be blaming the smoking aliens along Jomtien and for the reason have to punish them with a THB 100K ticket.

Stupidity at its very finest, well done - keep up the good work!

But pay attention to yourselves that your hearts never become weighed down with over eating and heavy drinking.

Heaven and earth and Pattaya will pass away but my words will buy no means pass away. Luke 21.

I didn't see any of that in the 2020 brochure, are you sure?

lol where on earth fella did you assume Pattaya represents all of Thailand.....Unique Pattaya visitors year around (even taking into account the upsurge in Indians) ranks at just under 1% of ALL visitors to the Country.......yes under 1%

Try going 2kms in any direction outside of Pattaya and see how far you get with your Chang T shirt manky shorts and sandals

If you don’t already have one, buy yourself a palm sized PM 2.5 air monitor.  You’ll know when to take action (stay indoors in air conditioned room, use mask, head for beach areas—away from Pattaya).

It never happened before? Last year was the worst in many years for air quality. Are we seeing a trend here? Diesel power plants, crop burning, industry, massive traffic, and one of the few nations in the world actively promoting the sale of new diesel vehicles.

Is this hapless administration doing anything proactive to battle the horrendous air quality here? Anything at all? Do they care? Their apathy and gross incompetence is a stunning thing to witness.

As much as you hate Thailand and everything about it, there's not much they can do about the wind. Most of this stuff comes in from Indonesia.
