Beyond farcical. This spells doom to the democrat party. I don't think anybody even has any idea why he is being impeached? Because Ambassador Sondland "presumed" there was quid pro quo? Just shocking

  • The actual charges are just the tip of the iceberg of this President's impeachable offenses. The house did the right thing. The fact that the senate is gearing up to do the wrong thing didn't and shou

Yeah!!!   I can't think of anyone who deserves it more.   Way to go, Mr Trump; you did it the old fashioned way, you earned it!

What's the point really ? He'll never get removed due to the way the American's houses and political system works, and it will just be wasted money that could have been used for better purposes.

It was supposed to drag out until the election but Trump releasing the transcript of the call pulled the rug out from under them and the had to go into damage control.

Now the focus will be on the “evil republican” senators not convicting him.

The defining moment in this mornings farce was when Pelosi got her 1st impeachment passed, and she stifled a huge outburst of laughter and glee, and then warned her followers to stop giggling. The video of this will be viral. It was a huge moment that offered a split second of honesty to cut through her BS and bluster.

I think it a good bet that regardless of what rules the Senate offer Nancy will not see them as being fair enough...

This ruling instigated by the democrats will be their demise and destruction. This will only strengthen the republicans position and support.

Lets wait for the senate.

If the senators, who are supposed to be impartial jury, work together with the White House then this is a very clear sign that the USA is not a 1st world country anymore.

Maybe its time for the rest of the world to put sanctions on the USA so that they have time to think about their behavior which resembles a third class banana republic.

I am sorry for all the decent Americans which must have a hard time trying to explaining to the rest of the world why they have a president and lots of politicians which just don't care about the laws and their own constitution. Truly dark times over there.

I wouldn’t bet on that, they have the press, Google, Facebook, Hollywood, teachers, professors and most civil servants.

Most of them buy into this stuff.

You understand the President is the leader of the Republican Party, yes?

A three year investigation and impeached  by the left for something that happened a few months ago. That seems really impartial. Not.

Does the constitution say they have to be impartial? Is there a higher court to appeal to if they are not?

Senators will vote whichever way they think will get them re elected. They are, after all, politicians, and think politically.

Sorry but that deserves a :w00t:

Trump did not release the transcript of the call.

If this actually gets to the senate ( Nancy is looking for an excuse not to send it there ) the effect during the election may be so severe that the Dems only have enough congressmen left to fill the clown car.

Joking alert for the humour deficient.

I think it’s a  good bet Mitch McConnell will be desperate to get his hands on this set of impeachment charges before the next batch arrive.

There are multiple cases before the courts calling for the release of evidence and witnesses being withheld by Trump.

Please try to read and understand. I highlighted the important part for you.

You will (hopefully) notice that there is no section that politicians from the same party as the president don't have to follow the constitution.

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm, as the case may be) that in all things appertaining to the trial of the impeachment of Donald John Trump, President of the United States, now pending, I will do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws; [So help me God]."[6]

Rules of Procedure and Practice in the Senate When Sitting on Impeachment Trials (26 Rules Applicable to Senate Impeachment Trial, gpo.gov, "Revised rules adopted on Aug. 16, 1986, pursuant to S. Res. 479, 99-2.")

Sure you can laugh about that. And I know if won't happen.

But think about how the USA reacts to other countries when they don't follow their own laws. The USA seems to be always in the first row criticizing others...

" Republican Representative Mike Kelly compared the impeachment to the Japanese attack on Hawaii's Pearl Harbor in 1941, calling the House proceedings another "date that will live in infamy"

So continue in the same way, nuke the "white" house....

What makes you think the Republicans will not be impartial?

Just because the Democrats have no integrity does not mean the Republicans will follow suit...

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) compared the impeachment debate against President Donald Trump to the trial of Jesus Christ.

Probably the fact that they're saying they won't be? In the words of Lindsey Graham:

I am trying to give a pretty clear signal I have made up my mind. I’m not trying to pretend to be a fair juror here.

Mitch McConnell has said it even more clearly, stating as follows:

Quote

"I'm not impartial about this at all."

Well congrats to Obama, Clinton and the rest of the Democrats. Mission accomplished you have managed to make half of the country hate the other half. Well done. I hope you all live long enough to reap what you have sown.

They are basically members of Trump's defense team. Except they are doing all of their defense work "pro-bono".

Why didn't 45 after being elected by a minority with questions of legitimacy over his head due to confirmed Russian interference choose to govern for his base ONLY instead of trying like a NORMAL president in such circumstances to EXPAND his base? So back at you. The most guilty party in the obvious near civil war levels of division in the USA is the current president. Of course the conditions were ripe for such a horrible situation, but he has gone out of his way to continue to inflame them.

He won , the Russian interference is nonsense. You guys can ride this nonsense forever nobody with any common sense believes it. Anyway enjoy the next year watching the Democrats self destruct.

Do you have an example of him governing to his base only?

It's not nonsense but if that's where you're coming from, blatant denial of facts and reality, I guess we have no basis for any kind of rational discussion. So -- bye.

Mueller report: 5 things to know about Russian interference in U.S. elections

WASHINGTON – Special counsel Robert Mueller’s report into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign spelled out in elaborate detail a sophisticated, Kremlin-led operation to sow division in the U.S. and upend the election by using cyberattacks and social media as weapons.
