I wonder how long it took him after he fled to realize just how senseless and stupid his actions were. He's gone from the proverbial frying pan right into the fire, yet he had to know it was inevitable.

I guess his main concern of being deported from Thailand has been removed for now. I suspect the police will want to lock him up for quite some time. They REALLY don't like to be embarrassed like this, just like every cop in the world. But I can't imagine that the Bangkok Hilton is better than returning home.

It was nice of the police to take him to the hospital to make sure he was healthy enough for a good beating. Like I said, they REALLY don't like to be embarrassed like that.

And before we crucify this man , remember that the Thai Healthcare system just RE legalized pot for medicinal purpose and most likely will go recreational just as soon as the boys can control the market . If I was caught with a SMALL amount of grass ( I don't smoke anymore ) in the LOS I would run my ass off too......

To those trying to brush this off as an over-reaction by authorities to someone caught with a little bit of weed, try to think a little deeper.

Not many people are so desperate to avoid being sent back to their home country that they will resort to such an escape. To remain in hiding in jungle for so many days (still wearing handcuffs?) until spotted and rooted out, suggests he has a dread of facing what may await him on return. StevenL has given a link that suggests he was involved in some sinister activities in Florida relating to child worker abuse.

Why did he overstay and for how long was he here without permission?

Why would someone, whose name and countenance suggest he (or his family) once may have been a refugee to the US, resort to such desperate acts to escape deportation back to there?

To the poster who derided the amount of police there at his re-arrest, I concluded they were part of the search party used to find him in his jungle hiding place. Have you ever seen how many cops turn up for car chases in western countries?

I'll guess he smelled real sweet (or should that be sweat?). They could probably hear his stomach growling from a hundred metres away.

That bowl of rice in the Hilton is going to taste pretty good to him !

So the fella gets busted for a bit of weed, which is almost certainly how his overstay occurred, waiting for the case to be finished, hence the reason for the deportation. Now though he is made out to be some sort of super villain? I mean how many cops do you need to arrest such a petty offender? Looks like at least seven, maybe more.

Show is a part of Thai culture ..me think
