To clarify things, voting still continues until midnight on New Years Eve, nothing has changed. The poll to ask who would like a runoff ends on the 26th at 4pm. That is more than enough time to see where the members stand on the question. The free votes are added at the end, regardless of anything else.

Charlie is referring to the voting poll, which has always been 31st, I am referring to the run off poll question that finishes on 26th at 4pm. That is enough time to see who wants a run off and who does not.

How did you come to this conclusion. Have you invoked Article 44?

No, not at all. Nothing has changed. Voting is open until 11:59pm on the 31st, as its always been. The new poll is only to see who wants a run off.

Rules for any competition should be clear at the beginning, no messing about with stuff after contenders have started their campaign...????...........????

I don't like it when folks mess with democracy. Just run the vote to the end.

For a run off to happen, there would need to be a huge majority in favour, which there isn't.

If this is not done, all the people that have voted for the losing candidates will have WASTED their votes.

A RUNOFF gives people a chance to form COALITIONS.

A RUNOFF gives people a chance to vote for their SECOND CHOICE (relative to the last two choices).

It's much much more DEMOCRATIC and FAIR to have a RUNOFF.

 

In the past when the software allowed people to change their votes until the last minute, we had much more EXCITING POTY contests.

 

Because people could see the results and try to influence the final winning result IF they had initially voted for a poorly showing choice.

 

The ONLY WAY to replicate that excitement to at least some degree is a TWO PERSON FINAL RUNOFF.
