O visa extension retirement..multi entry?

Featured Replies

I appreciate all the info regarding my previous question about the 800k in the bank. I have another question re: non-immigrant O visas based on retirement..

It seems that the initial 90 day O visa that is issued to you is only a single entry visa. When it comes time to apply for an extension based on retirement age, is it possible to get it as a multiple entry? My wife and I will be traveling a lot, and I will have to make many trips back to the US due to aging parents. Thanks again for the advice..this site has been a good resource for us.

If you get a one year extension based on retirement in Thailand you would have to get a reentry permit, to keep it alive if you leave the country. It is 3,800 baht for multiple trips, or 1,000 baht for a single trip.It is available from immigration offices.

As said,

Re Entry Permit.

1,000 Baht or 3,800 for a Multi.

Get it at the same time as you apply for the extension.

Got it..thanks so much.

An extension is a permit, not a Visa.

You extend your 90 day permission of stay granted by the O Visa entry for another year.

Unlike a Visa, an extension does not allow any entries, but as already stated you can purchase a re-entry permit separately to allow re-entry and keep any remaining permission to stay valid.
