BKK Police conduct crime sweeping operation ahead NY celebration

BANGKOK(NNT) - The Metropolitan Police Bureau has dispatched officials to conduct an anti crime and narcotics operation and is stationing police at various New Year celebration and at risk venues, as the end of the year is fast approaching.

January-November export 2.7% in red

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s export sector continues to suffer from the global economic slowdown. The latest figures from November 2019 show a 7.39 percent continuous decline in value. Oil refinery closedowns for maintenance have also caused a decline in petroleum exports, resulting in the overall export figure in 11 months of this year to be at negative 2.7 percent.

The "Energy for All" policy of Energy Minister Sontirat Sontijirawong is starting to take shape after the Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO), chaired by Prime Minister Prayat Chan-o-cha, approved the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) mechanism in renewable power investment and price rate for Very Small Power Producers (VSPP) on December 16.

NBTC board nods to auction of four spectrum bands

The board of National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) today (December 24) approved the auctions of four spectrum bands (700 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2600 MHz and 26 GHz) for 5G service. The NBTC will auction a single band at a time on February 16 next year.

Govt targets economic growth over 3 per cent in next five years

The Cabinet on Tuesday (December 24) approved inflation target in the range of 1-3 per cent for next year.  The target was determined jointly by Bank of Thailand (BOT) Governor Veerathai Santipraphob and Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana. The two said headline inflation remained at a low level, largely because of the decreasing prices of food and energy.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's annual manufacturing output likely fell for the seventh straight month in November, but at a slower pace than in the previous month, a Reuters poll showed on Tuesday.

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Hong Kong riot police fired rounds of tear gas at thousands of protesters, many wearing masks and reindeer horns, after scuffles in shopping malls and in a prime tourist district as pro-democracy rallies escalated into Christmas Eve chaos.

(Reuters) - Travis Kalanick, the pugnacious co-founder of Uber, has severed his last ties with the ride-services company, resigning from the board and selling all his shares as he turns his focus to a new venture creating "ghost kitchens" for food delivery services.
