Hi all, just looking for advice for the best way to proceed ref visas etc

My previous employment with non-b visa/work permit here in Bkk from November 2016, expired at the end of June 2019 due to redundancy. I was given the 7 day extension upon cancelling the non-b, and since then I have made 3x VE stamps pretty much back-to-back, all by air into Bangkok and all with extensions, which has now given me until 4th January to leave again.

Im looking for the best method to extend my stay here using VE etc to continue my job hunt to obtain the correct long-stay visa.

I have had no issues so far on entering at either bkk airport on the previous VE stamps but know this won’t last.

Suggestions from experience would be greatly appreciated

you get two land crossings per calendar year. That will buy you 60 more days.

Word for the wise, do not mention that you are job hunting to any IO or you will quickly be denied I would imagine, they assume can't afford to be here and may work illegally.

flying into BKK is a big gamble though on VE. Chiang Mai isn't an option? I have never had issues there.

The Chiang Mai flight entry was my initial thought, so that could be the best option and save the 2 land borders if I need them later in the year

You could do one one a land border crossing or before the 31st and get one that would be for this year unless you have already done 2 of them.

No land border entries ever, which would be a suggested friendly border?

The Ban Phu Nam Ron crossing in Kanchanaburi to Myanmar is the nearest and best one if traveling from Bangkok.

No full page visa sticker there.

OP, you have been trying the last 6 months to find unemployment unsuccessfully. What makes you think you will be able to find employment in the coming months? I don’t mean this to be a malicious post but suggest that you rethink your priorities. I assume you are below 50 so you still have many good years ahead of you. Don’t ruin your life here.

I did manage to get a job acceptance for a startup company here a couple of months ago, but it all fell through. Reason for wanting to stay is that my girlfriend is Thai and it’s where I’ve based myself for the last 3 years before unexpectedly being made redundant, I was thinking about the marriage route, but from what I’ve found online, I would need to be employed at a 40k baht a month minimum job, or 400k in the bank (which I don’t)

I guessed it was probably that. Few other things would justify jumping through so many hoops.

If you have the sort of tech skills that a startup company would value, surely you could earn a few grand per week working online, even just freelancing.

That wouldn't give you a visa based on a work permit, but you would be earning enough to easily assemble the money required for an Elite visa. That would solve your problem for five years, all without having to rely on these flakey companies or some jerk of a boss.

So based on the Chiang mai entry point, I was thinking fly bkk to maybe da nang in Vietnam, stay for 3 nights or so, then fly da nang to Chiang mai, Chiang mai back to Bkk. Might possibly get another 30 day extension at CW on that VE if needed
