Trump didn't do anything.  The information came from the intelligence agencies that Trump constantly denigrates and disbelieves.

Look at it from another angle, perhaps ol' Vlad was staging his own psy-op, sort of a Reichstag to convince the citizenry of an existential threat, and the US spies spoiled the party by finding out about it.

Not long some video tapes emerged of the NRA explaining to some Australian right-wingers ways to push the pro-gun agenda.  It would involve something like, let's say, a shooting in a public place, a church perhaps, and the day is saved by a good guy pulling out a gun and shooting the bad guy.  Just a supposition.

Anyway, gotta go check the news from this past weekend...

 

Speaking of terrorist acts on New Year's, there was a bomb went off in Bangkok NYE Dec. 31, 2006, in Pratunam.

My thought too.  A few weeks back there was some chatter about a leak from the WH that Team DT was tasked with turning Vlad into a positive with the MAGA faithful.  Lipstick on a pig, but there is no reason to believe his followers won't give in.  This stunt certainly fills the bill.
