And that is newsworthy?

For millions of dirt poor Thais that he helped when in government most definitely.

For the sad, old bar-stool obsessives on here, not so much.

So change from one corrupt unethical leader and his leeches to another highly corrupt 'leader' and his unethical corrupt cronies who have had no hesitation to be violent.

Sounds great.

That looks like the lyrics to the latest K-Pop hit...

This isn't real news... it's a PR handout from Thaksin and the corrupt Shinawatra clan.

Not a month goes by that there isn't some "news" story about one of them.

They became so rich and entrenched in Thailand that the country was on the brink of civil war when they were finally brought down.

The brainwashed proles would have kept them in power indefinitely.

Shameful that my country England allow these ppl to flee there..

Unlike the army who staged a coup, gave themselves an amnesty for ALL past, present and future activities, tore up the constitution, had a fake election which they only won by frigging the results and seem to have put themselves in power for the next 20 years or until another coup comes along.

Yet you seem to believe that Thaksin was evil.

Obviously the UK (which is the country I came from) believes that Thaksin was been politically charged.

If the UK wanted to stop Thaksin entering the country they could do so very easily.

If indeed it does boil down to the choice you describe ( and I don't think it does, I consider Thaksin and his faction very much the "lessor of two evils") then why can the Thai people not make that choice?

The reluctance of the Thai Government to ask for his extradition is possibly explained because it would result in a court case, in a jurisdiction beyond their control, which would place on the world stage a large number of unpalatable facts about how his government, and the subsequent elected ones, were toppled; not to mention how the current one came to power.

If it is all that clear, why doesn't he come back himself and get the court case going???

And after reading the headline, here I was expecting to see Yingluck!   LOL

Corrupt as he can be, Thaksin didn’t re-wrote the constitution to favour him and he don’t control agencies like the EC and the NACC. His and Yingluck elections were much more transparent and fairer than the election that guaranteed and secured Prayut his premiership and his government  by a corrupt party listing scam. The people really didn’t have much choice. This junta government is forced upon the people.

So does that mean it would be better or more successful (for Thaksin) to gain entry to Thailand by using a Montenagrian passport or a passport from the African countries where he's involved with blood diamon mining?

Do you have evidence to back up your blood diamond claim or is this false news?

The potential  court case which I am talking about is one in the UK fighting extradition. A jurisdiction " beyond the control" of the current Thai government.

Do you think that he would receive a fair and transparent trial if he returned to Thailand? I rather suspect the  temptation to give him a "Benigno Aquino welcome" would be irresistible in certain circles!

Knows what he bought a Diamond mine?
I'm pretty sure he couldn't sell his Diamond in the UK if they were blood diamonds.
So where is the evidence they are blood diamonds that's all I ask?

According to wikipedia he invested in Gold mining and Diamond polishing so again where is the evidence he is involved in the blood diamond bizz?

I am not commenting on your entirely reasonable request for some evidence. My point is, that for many of his (Thaksin's) detractors on this forum, "everyone knows" is sufficient to substantiate any allegations!

What would be the point of Thai agencies identifying the location?  Even if they were standing next to him telling him to smile there's nothing that they could have done about it.
