Pattaya motorbike fire: Ladyboy helps crack the mystery!

The Pattaya police have decided that there was no foul play after nine motorcycles were destroyed or damaged in a fire outside a beer bar off Soi Bua Khao.

The key to cracking the case for the constabulary was CCTV and a helpful ladyboy.

CCTV from the beer bar showed investigators that the source of the fire was a "green Yamaha KSR", said Sophon Cable TV.

(Thaivisa notes that such a bike is in fact a Kawasaki 110).

A spark came from under the engine and spread to the other bikes.

Investigations led to 30 year old lady boy Mr Thaweesak Saithong - that is the gentleman in pink with the shoulder bag in our picture.

Thaweesak told the police that he had borrowed the bike from a friend and had arrived at the beer bar to drink with some foreigners (all of whom were blameless on this occasion).

When it came time to drink up and leave Thaweesak wheeled the motorcycle out and tried and failed to get it going.

So he wheeled it back from whence it came and went on foot to drink in another bar.

Pattaya police chief Pol Col Khemarin Phisamai said it was an open and shut case. It was an accident - the fire had come from the faulty engine of the Yamaha.

That was a Kawasaki.

Thaivisa notes whether bikes or lady boys, all is not always what it seems in Thailand.

Happy New Year.

Hey, that's no gentleman, that's my wife!

Oh... so it wasn't caused by the fireball blast from a big firework that some drunk farang had lit in the middle of the street that fell over?

Some people will be so disappointed.

Thanks for the clarification, I was struggling for a minute with who was who!

It's usually a "misunderstanding" but this time it's an "accident."  That's new.  ????

There was I thinking it was the gentleman on the right with the uniform and the cap......

Not possible l been riding racing and building bikes 35 years. Not possible lol. Nonsense

Something stinks. As often in Thailand, all is not as it appears. Why would the ladyboy be so helpful? To cover up the fact that he/she had actually started the fire, for reasons he/she wanted to remain unknown?

Highly improbably, but not impossible.

Luckily his insurance will cover it all..Weird the people standing outside at the bar and one bike starts to light up and no one starts with throwing  some water on it? Bunch of incapable folks there in Bukaw !

Spot on!  One thing I've learned in LOS is a sure way to draw the suspicion of BiB is to be helpful. ess-tee-eff-oop

This seems very disrepectful to me, the person identifies as "lady boy" takes a female persona, surely they could have not used the "mr" in the reporting, and the tern "gentleman". Is this to humilate and denigrate the person?

Why not use gender neutral terminology?

Bars are by law responsible to be equipped with powder fire extinguishers.

That paragraph sent me right off topic!

... adding -  why they try drag some sort of stigma to associate the farang word into this purely thai situation
