Last year we went to the bank first, then home to make copies, so got there at about 10:30, getting the first slot after lunch.

I got my bank letter & statement the day before (worried about BKB nonsense).

No need to update the book either, yesterday was good.

We had a bit of a situation at BKB the day before as I had no idea they had applied 'rules' and my minimum 400K only went back 3 months, but the  teller decided to miscount, saying August, September, October, November. I then got up at 0500, made a transfer and drove the 30 minute round trip to update the book because that was the big issue last year. I asked the document checker about the passbook when he said come back tomorrow and he said don't worry.

A few couples were turned away while we were waiting because of KR2 - luckily we got a new one last month.

We actually spent less time there than usual, just over 2 mornings.

Odd, as inside they photocopied my original. ks2, then handed the original back and told us to use it again next year.

They either didn't have a copy at all, or the ones they had were too old. It was enough of an issue for the document checker to make an announcement about it. A few years back I asked her how long the KR2 was good for and she said about 5 years.

Yes, once inside, she is happy to re-copy anything that isn't up to her exacting standards.....

A friend did his Thai Family extension yesterday and his wife asked about KR2 age, to be told that they would have been happy with copies of the original.

The Chiang Mai IO is now requiring a lease agreement for non-o retirement 800k extension. Well I’ve been renting with an expired lease contract for over two years now and the property owner is out of province and told me to go ahead and change the date myself. Not sure if it will pass.

Ridiculous requirement.

What did Mao Zedong say along the lines of:

Just because you have the power to invoke a ruling, doesn’t make it right to do so- just because you can.

Yes it is ridiculous and redundant since the TM-30 is included in the documents. They also wanted copies of the owners house book and identification and luckily I just happened to bring them just in case they wanted it, and they did. So I did change the date on the lease contract and the IO asked me if I was the one that changed it to extend the lease and I said yes I did change it and that was the end of the conversation. I also had the owners permission in the Line app discussion along with images of bank transfers just in case they wanted proof of permission by the owner but they didn’t ask for it but that doesn’t mean they won’t be asking in the future. It looks like they are tightening up in increments.

What I think is going on here is that the IO is doing this for everyone Myanmar, Chinese and all equally to clean out people abusing immigration laws.
