Good afternoon friends,

This morning I went to my local amphur to ask, for the first time, our KorRor 2. They told me that because they are a very small Amphur they don't have the red stamp necessary to validate the copy. Do you know if a regular blue stamp will be accepted? Or do you think I can just go to the bigger Amphur in my closest bordering province?

Thank you

Any Amphur can do the KR2.

But I just got our KR2 (done today) and it had a BLUE Stamp and it was a different format then last years.

You can get the Kor Ror 2 at any district/amphur office in Thailand....does not have to be where you currently live, originally got married, etc.

Edit:  Out of curiosity regarding blue and red stamps I pulled out two Kor Ror 2's I've got over the last few months....got them within days of each other....one from the Rayong amphur office the wife and I originally got married at decades ago and it has no circular/emblem red stamp just blue signature stamps.  But the Kor Ror 2 we got at a Khet (district) office here in Bangkok does have the red circular and blue signature stamps.

All of mine have had a blue stamp on them. And they were all accepted

Is it a round stamp with that big fancy symbol or only a very simple one?

The blue stamps I was talking are just signature type stamps....no fancy emblem.

The red fancy emblem was that resembling the Thai Garuda.

I don't have a copy in color. But it was blue. I give them the original and copy.

Amazing, it is the same that they provide at my Amphur. So they can provide me a valid KR 2. Thank you so much.

for those of us uninitiated in the dark arts what is a KR2 ? Thanks

It is a Kor Ror 2 marriage registry. It has detailed info that was done when a marriage is registered at an Amphoe.

My local amphur office is tiny. But they did my KR2 in about 5 minutes with a blue stamp.

They should be able to do mine as well with a blue stamp.

Another question: where does the map need to start from? Is main road fine? I live in a traditional Thai village and it is quite a maze to get here.

The map I have always provided just only reflects an area approx 3 kilometers from my home even though my immigration office which is CW is approx 25 kilometers away.   Immigration offices are primarily concerned in the final few kilometers to your residence.

Here's my take on it.

Obviously I know my village well, it's pretty small. I used google maps on my computer screen to kind of trace a rough overview in pencil. Then improved on this a couple of times showing landmarks such as schools, police station, 7-Eleven and the football pitch where the kids play.

The first two I threw away but the third one looked pretty decent. It has to show how to get to your house from the local main roads. Also, when I was at immigration they asked for some distances between junctions, they said is this 50m or 200m? I think they were checking to see if it was actually me that drew it and just trying to catch me out. Be prepared for that.

Thanks that is really helpful. One of my wife's students draw the map but she is quite the artist ahah if they ask me to redraw it it will be very different indeed. I'll do a new one that goes from the main road to my house. About 5 Km

I would advise you to draw it yourself. Whilst I was getting my marriage extension there was an Australian guy, probably in his 60s, they asked him to redraw his map because it wasn't good enough. If someone else drew your map you might struggle.

Sometimes I wonder if they use it to be able to find your house easily. But the Kerry couriers always find my house without a map so maybe it's way to try and see if you actually know the area where you live. Maybe a bit of both. Still quite a strange request though.

Hopefully the immigration will catch up with technology one day. Kerry and other couriers get easily to my house as well.

If get one that is accept keep a copy of it.

I have been using a copy of the same map a immigration officer did based upon my wife's verbal instructions that he made copy of and gave to me to use again. Have it scanned into my computer and print it out every year.
