BANGKOK (NNT) - The Tourism and Sports Minister has officiated a security campaign for the 2020 Chinese New Year this weekend.

Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn and Commissioner of the Tourism Police Bureau Chetta Komonwattana dispatched a caravan of police to Yaowarat, Bangkok’s Chinatown.

In his speech, the Minister said that Thailand is a famous destination for a large number of Chinese tourists looking to spend their time visiting holy sites, dining on fine food and enjoying countless entertainment activities.

Data indicates that the number of Chinese visiting Thailand since 2013 has been constantly increasing, generating an enormous amount of income. He concluded that ensuring the safety of tourists is crucial in promoting the tourism industry, in line with the state’s policy.

Minister Phiphat further explained that the security campaign integrates work from several related units, monitoring landmark tourist attractions and providing facilities and information to visitors during the period.

Looks like they needed a picture and this is the best they could get.

By looking at the picture, it perfectly sums up the competence of the department. They go out in search for chinese tourists and end up with what looks like a Western European man.

He had a chinese takeaway but she didn't want to be photographed. You can just see her elbow.
