Dog attack: Pit Bull savages mother and toddler in NE Thailand

I feel like many people here have never had a dog for a lot of reasons.
but do not come to express your hatred of this animal on this forum.
A dog never attacks for fun;
either he is educated for this but in this case the will only do so on the order of his master;
or it is because he was beaten from an early age, something unfortunately very common in Thailand;

and generally by the kids; I see it do it every day and it hurts my heart because I know that one day one of these dogs will take revenge one way or another.
so he's afraid of humans and won't tell the difference between a kid and an adult.
If in addition it is a female who has BBs, her reflex will be to defend them.

Dogs shouldn't be allowed in whole Thailand since they can't take care of them at all...maybe 5% of the dog owners walks it, the rest has to sit in the garden all day long without any attention or correction.

God did it because rabies is a bit too obvious. Dog foams at the mouth and can legally be shot, so no mystery.
With the pitbull you have equal lethal potential, except you don't quite know when it's going to happen. Bit of a tease, and you cannot just blow them away. More's the pity.

Look at the statistics and you will see that about 95 percent of the fatal or serious dog bites are caused by Pit bulls! The 2nd on the list is German Shepard's and they are a small fraction of the bites caused by PBs. Whatever the reason, these are the worst for attacks!

I got bitten by a Soi dog in front of a 7-Eleven here in Pattaya and also several times threatened by up to 8 dogs also here in Pattaya. This is my statistics.

You don't have to breed 'em to be violent. Feral and semi feral dogs are naturally violent and territorial.

 

Try teaching or training a pack of wild dogs not to be violent. Packs of hyenas which are no more than wild dogs have even been known to take on a lion.

and then learn a little Thai or Lanna, the local language, and speak with them;
you will see, it helps ..

So if we learn to play 'delation', what ever that may be or speak a local lingo we may well be able to tell the the dogs to leave us alone.

Just a thought: Since the mother was well aware of the neighbour's dangerous dogs, maybe she is a bit negligent in allowing the 2 year old out of sight, outside.

Note in the OP picture what kind of "pacifier" is in the child's hands. Could this be an indicator of the mother's vigilance?

 

That said, I salute the mother for putting herself in harm's way to rescue her child!

Yeah, I had the same problem until I did something about it. One guy had 8 dogs and many had 2-3 of them. Everyone running free and chasing me, other people and motorbikes. I went on a town meeting and just told them to keep their dogs inside their properties and set up fences. All other dogs I see after that I would beat the <deleted> out. Also filed my problems with the police, so they would know why I would beat the <deleted> out of them, so they can call it self defence.

In this specific case with a small boy and his mother hurt, I would have beaten up the owner instead. I have to say that the mother of the boy was a brave one. Of course reacted on instict, but it´s nice to see that somebody still have those instincts.

some things deserve to be hated and pitbulls are definitely on the list. Dogs will and do attack for no reason at all, they are sly creatures. Hundreds of thousands are treated in the USA every year for dog bites, yet the deluded still peddle the mans best friend and no bad dogs only bad owners nonsense.

Exactly. Keep the humans behind fences and let the dogs roam freely.
