Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul insisted that only about 20,000 Chinese from Wuhan city had entered Thailand during the period. That's a lot of possible carriers walking around the country. For the govt. to state that only 14 have shown symptoms is total BS....

ONLY 20,000 ??? and while in Thailand with how many people they interacted.... the numbers can grow extremely fast

While other countries outside of China (with lot less Chinese visitors) finds new cases daily, Thailand seems to be the only country in control of this virus (14 infected... maybe 15 with the PM)

 

It seems like Thai people are immune to this virus and this could be a golden opportunity for more Chinese tourism.

While at it, add to the visa requirements that Chinese must stay under quarantine for two weeks at swampy before allowed to enter. That should do it.

Yes, if you don't do tests, there can't be any infections, Thai 101. What's the backlog now, 200+?

 

EDIT: I checked, it's 220. Basically in days they haven't done the tests. Just how stupid do they think...ah right, Thailand.

one problem here, typical Chinese tourists only stay 2-3 days 555

A serious question: I normally get 6 to 10 parcels a month from Aliexpress sellers. Should I be using bleach to clean the packages and contents when I  open from now on?

Very unlikely anything would survive on the surfaces. Won't hurt of course, who knows what other hazardous chemicals Chinese product are covered with.

140.000 people hospitalized and more than 8000 people died of the virus in the usa alone! 

not talking about the corona virus but about this years ongoing influenza epidemy...

so the usa cant control a returning yearly deadly epidemy causing thousands of death, yet all here are bitching about Thailand with zero death.

Why not let authorities do their job and we just go on with our lives...

Thailand should stop all Chinese entering Thailand for at least two weeks.Stop thinking of the money they bring.If thousands get ill and have to go to hospital it will cost a lot more.

I guarantee that wealth and status were the only considered qualifications.

WHO have declared an iternational health Emergency.

They raised of it now gaining hold in India and the Philipines. Biggest worry is countries with health services in some countries that would be incapable of handling a lot of sick people. Not the death rate but the ability to properly handle the numbers.

The finger scanners of immigration are real virus spreading sources if they are not immediately sterilized every time.

So what I take that to mean is...

 

Let's say someone felt sick, and they went to see a doctor at say Samitivej Hospital just by way of example, and that hospital ended up doing the coronavirus test on the person and it came back positive... And at that point, that person might well be admitted to the hospital there.

 

But then, that case apparently would not be counted in the government's official tally, and the same person's case and test would have to be run again by two other "reference laboratories" -- presumably the government ones mentioned above -- before any final conclusion would be reached.

 

And who knows what the turnaround time for coronavirus testing is running right now at the Thai government reference labs...

Don’t see any western countries taking any significant action in restricting the Chinese. The posters here should concentrate their vitriol on their home countries instead. Thailand doesn’t give a toss as to what expats here think.

Not sure i am correct, but it seems that China itself is restricting its nationals to go abroad.

If so, this thread seems to be quite irrelevant.

Quite right. China has stopped tour groups leaving for days now in an attempt to contain further spread. One has to give them credit for the measures they are taking.
