Yay, go Team Prayut, Thailand number 1! Or number 2 at least!

Out of the confirmed cases in China, more than 1200 are considered to be in a critical condition (according to Thailand's own official report). The situation is serious and I hope someone understands this in the gov, this is not just a flu.

In Thailand here's what today's report states: since the beginning 44 lab tests came back negative, 14 positives, 144 still waiting for results. 27 people are currently in isolation rooms.

I have to agree on the seriousness and the death rate numbers. Given that there are so many in life support being forcably kept alive. The numbers aren't accurate. Also there is the fact that now China has no more test kits to get an accurate count on those truly infected.

Thailand should not be waiting around to make a decision about this. It should have been made the day wuhan closed its city. Money propels the gov. They should be following the WHO protocol instead of worrying about losing tourist dollars for a few months. Better to lose money than to lose the lives or the people because of money

No I think Thailand should welcome all Chinese tourists and especially sick ones as we are the "Health and medical Hub" Just imagine how much money the hospitals & government could make... money, money, money.... that's what its all about isn't it?

Only the already "vulnerable" are dying.

Oh well that's OK then.

Stop the flights completely. Nothing to add to that, it's simple.

Many Chinese visit Thailand by road. I doubt that the border police would have the necessary information, testing units, and facilities to prevent them entering.

Just put a block on travel to and from China for now. Better to err on the side of caution.

Finally, some good news.

Not if he comes back............. with the virus. will he stay in Isolation when he returns.

China knew about this virus in early December, located the source but did nothing about it wanting to avoid negative publicity around the world. That went well didn’t it. Now it’s too late. Every government, East or West lies to avoid public panic. Idiot politicians with the brains of birds tell us they’re 100% in control and expect us to believe them.

As with all the previous viruses like SARS and MERS they’ll wind themselves down eventually but it won’t be because we wore a mask or banned the Chinese.

This is the problem with centralized governments who look to one man as some kind of a messiah. The small people take the blame to preserve those at the top.

Apparently the Mayor or Wuhan knew and wanted to disclose the information sooner, but he had to ask for permission from Beijing first which caused an unnecessary and dangerous delay.

Typical small-minded thinking by the Thai authorities. This is the perfect opportunity to get a total strangle hold on Chinese tourists. They should be giving Chinese special 2 for 1 deals!

That’s exactly as I heard it too. Saving face doesn’t work for long, now they have egg all over it and people are sick and dying because of it.

Thailand, through extreme myopia, put itself into this position. By putting all of it's eggs in the basket of China, they opened themselves up to a tourism and economic tragedy of immense proportions. It was an inane decision, made by people with little to no experience in tourism, hired based on cronyism, or nepotism, and entirely without merit. When you reach for the bottom of the barrel, this is what you get.

The Thai people are in for a world of hurt. Tourism was already in a near crisis stage, due to an extremely xenophobic and racist administration. Now?

I do feel bad for the common Thai. However, in a sense they allowed this to happen, by allowing the totally incompetent army to take over. The only solution now, is to get them out. Hopefully, the youth will rise up. The army is truly despised at this point in time. They are beyond useless.

As always, the last ones to react worldwide :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

They think about the hip pocket nerve and financial effects on tourism first.

A shame that they cannot get the same emotional feeling about the road deaths and carnage that happens every day with the loss of 60 + lives.

Every day...

This begs the question:  Outside of the regime, does anybody really like the ChiCom regime, or the Chinese hordes?

but we must remember the good x general has stated all is under control, will the health minister be allowed back to Thailand?

Is this because they stopped reporting the updated numbers a few days ago? What is the real number and what will it look like come February 7?

Road deaths kill more than any virus has ever done in Thailand, but I don't detect any action to prevent that epidemic. Why is this virus treated differently?

You are, of course, right and the Thai drivers who possibly survive are spreading obscenely around the world to make new attempts to become a traffic victim. We have to stop them!

Just considering, we need  month or two to make  decision, we have to think about all those tourists BHT that

 we will lose.

14 is last Monday 27th's number, since when the Thai government has stopped the health authority from releasing figures. So what are the numbers of infected and deaths in Thailand as of today I wonder???????

Rampant Coronavirus throughout Thailand

Considering! Small as they are, Malaysia has already done it. And their tourism industry is no where near Thailand in terms of size. Meanwhile, you pansies are still faffing about, hanging on to the tourism money and arrivals and putting everyone in Thailand in potential danger.

Malaysia's tourism industry used to dwarf Thailand's.

Only in recent years has Thailand taken over in terms of numbers.

Thailand set to suspend visa on arrival for Chinese tourists

IMG_7202.jpg

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will today propose to the government to consider suspending granting of visa on arrival for Chinese tourists to tighten control to fend off possible spread of coronavirus.

The proposal comes hot on the heels of the World Health Organization’s declaring the novel coronavirus outbreak a public health emergency of international concern.

The minister,   in his capacity as head of an ad hoc committee tasked with handling the health threat, dismissed as a fake news reports in some local media that as many as five million people from Wuhan have visited Thailand during the Chinese New Year festival. He insisted that only about 20,000 Chinese from Wuhan city had entered Thailand during the period.

We were in a Moo Grata Buffet restaurant and some Chinese speaking tourists came in and all and I mean all the Thai guests were concerned they claimed to be Malaysian but no ID was shown.
Even if they let them in they probably aren't going to get a warm welcome in most places they visit.

Every Thai person in the restaurant was angry the government hasn't blocked the Chinese yet.
This was in a Hillside resort in Phetchabun the last place you would normally find any Chinese tourist.
