Considering! Small as they are, Malaysia has already done it. And their tourism industry is no where near Thailand in terms of size. Meanwhile, you pansies are still faffing about, hanging on to the tourism money and arrivals and putting everyone in Thailand in potential danger.

  • "Considering"? That sounds a little strong. Let's organise an action committee and hold a series of meetings.

  • Considering, WHAT!! Past time these dopey sods woke up, and put a stop to visitors from China, until this virus is brought under control. Oh stupid me, the country will lose money, and that canno

this should have been done long time ago as carriers may not show symptoms or be detected by thermal scanners at the time of arrival.

As usual, dragged kicking and screaming to finally move toward doing something they really didn't want to do, an oft repeated pattern here...  Leading from the rear.

just like WHO that failed to act at the time of outbreak.

Malaysia is better than most people think.

About Thailand, I am deeply disapointed.

better to bite the bullet early. the costs are much higher later on.

A bit late to "consider" this now, yes? The damage has been done already.

My 2¢

still better late than never.

If the number of deaths are less than 500 by next Wednesday, not so bad. Not great, not terrible. If it is 2000 then it is global pandemic bad with serious consequences and disruptions to the global economy.

The problem is: how to know the truth?

Almost all of the information is in the hands of Google and its dear friends.
You will not know and I will only know what they are willing to let filter;
that is to say their figures.
Currently "we" are told that there are so many people infected and so many dead;
but in reality how many are there really?

I have a prediction:

Many people living in Thailand and Thai citizens have chosen to stay indoors as much as possible until this situation is under control (from what I hear).

That may cause boredom.

I predict in about 9 to 11 months from now, there will be a baby boom of both Thai/Thai and Thai/farang babies. ????

lol. you may be right.

act immediately. my suggestion is to have meetings later. follow some other country model for protection procedures.

still better to do now rather than not all.

I am considering getting a cheap holiday in Phuket. Might be nice and quiet. I remember dining on steak for weeks after the BSE scandal.

YOU CAN HAVE THE VIRUS AND NOT SHOW SYMPTOMS.

How difficult is it for these people to understand what is going on?

Cancel all visas. No exceptions. Or pay the price.

Close the border to China like many other countrys , cancel all flights. For Thailand it seem to be all about money. Clowns...

????

so pass the responsibility on to China ?

how stupid is that

How about Thailand owning responsibility for its own citizens and borders

no one can determine the risk exposure as carriers may not show symptoms during the incubation period og 14 days.

Oh stupid me, the country will lose money, and that cannot be allowed to happen.

So what if a few die just collateral damage........ Pathetic situation.

Money is the prime driver here. People could be dropping dead in the streets and TAT and the other talking heads would be chirping as to the increase in arrivals and how the coffins are filling up, thus giving more people more work.

The government is considering suspending the visa on arrival facility for Chinese tourists due to the outbreak of coronavirus in Wuhan, Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul said on Thursday (January 30).

That's the Thai master plan????

Anutin is so far out of touch he's in a league of his own, health minister they call him!!!!!

Suspending all of the Chinese would make more sense......

A mistake that the Chinese HAVE repeated this time. When this virus was revealed in early December, China arrested the 8 doctors who reported it as spreading false news, and bringing China into disrepute. It wasn't until the cases started increasing that China reluctantly revealed it!

There is an excellent article in the New York Times on this subject. Worth reading.

And I am a Brit who doesn't usually like what the USA does. This article is very interesting.

Agree with you on that article, very revealing. Sad but true and in part, why we are where we are now and where we are heading.

those you call "facts" are based on China Gov numbers?

How is it possible that about 40 deaths made Wuhan a ghost city?

Do you think that China Gov scared Wuhan citizens up to making all of them barricade at home?

Does it sounds strange to you?

The real numbers are closer to 100,000 infected, that was reported by a Thai man living in China who speaks Chinese.

Incompetent people all belong in wife's kitchen table. I would have blocked them.day 2. Now they have endangered families

Only confused people compare the virus with the road. You die on the road is "end of story" but not with the virus. You could have infected people before and they could-will-infect others.

To the poster, who say the elderly, and sick people who died from this  virus are chaff, well

in my opinion, you may be considered  scum.  I have read many comments from people on this forum, who seem to not have neither a heart or soul.  Shameful really.  I doubt that there is anyone who wants to contact this virus or any disease and die..

Geezer

I read something quite to the contrary today. I can not post it here as not sure if allowed. But I will PM you the article if you wish.

By comparison to the initial denial and failure to inform even it's own medical authorities of the SARS outbreak this time the reaction has been faster. Unlike an outbreak of a known  disease such as  measles or  chicken pox which is quickly identifiable if a cluster of people present with a new strain of a virus with flu like symptoms it is inevitable that it will take time to recognize it as  such unfortunately only because it demonstrates the  ability to kill quickly without hospital/medical intervention. Information and identification obviously is initiated due to the cluster of  deaths and pathology separating it  from the background of other "normal" infections such as  seasonal influenza. If this  new  virus was not potentially lethal at all it  could exist for a  long time with  no urgent cause to identify it.

I wouldn't waste time on considerations, it should have already been done!

Chinese government will not blame you if you shut it down. Kim jong an is so friendly with China, he Shutted down as well.

Out of the confirmed cases in China, more than 1200 are considered to be in a critical condition (according to Thailand's own official report). The situation is serious and I hope someone understands this in the gov, this is not just a flu.

In Thailand here's what today's report states: since the beginning 44 lab tests came back negative, 14 positives, 144 still waiting for results. 27 people are currently in isolation rooms.

Not just a flu, over 50,000 americans have contacted the flu so far this year and over 800 have died ehat you are thinking the flu no big deal
