Blah, blah, blah       just about any first world country would sign for 2.5 % growth in GDP

I see this type of comment on here quite frequently. Respectfully, you obviously don’t know the difference between a developed and developing economy.

The US, EU, Canada, Australia, etc. (I.e. what you refer to as “first world” countries) are all developed economies, and GDP growth of 2.5% - 3.0% for those economies would indeed be quite good. (According to the World Bank, GDP growth for Aus. and the US in 2018 was 2.9%.)

Thailand, as a developing economy should have a significantly higher GDP growth rate. As an example, even though it is now the second largest economy in the world, China is still a developing economy and their GDP growth has averaged 7.6% over the last ten years. Closer to home, some of Thailand’s ASEAN neighbors who are also developing economies have averaged much higher GDP growth during that same ten years:

  • Cambodia 7.0%
  • Laos 7.4%
  • Myanmar 6.3%
  • Philippines 6.3%
  • Indonesia 5.5%
  • Malaysia 5.4%

So as a developing economy, Thailand’s GDP growth of 2.5% is actually quite poor.
