Can you import fossils into Thailand?

Featured Replies

I have a small collection of fossils that I want to bring into Thailand - a couple of Megalodon teeth, trilobites, a dinosaur radius, and a few other bones and trifles.  My wife says its illegal to import these items and that they will be confiscated at the airport if I try to bring them into Thailand.  I can find no information indicating that its illegal to import these items.  Anyone else have any experience in this regard?  Thanks.

Why not ring the Customs hotline and get it from the horses mouth ?

They speak English, so its quite painless.

Pinned information on Customs above.

OA visa??

Or just slip them into your suitcase. Doubt anyone would notice.

Be aware though that the x-ray machines are slowly being put into place at Suvarnabhumi and ALL bags will be scanned soon. The sign says place all bags into machine.

I usually use exit B. Always walked around to the right. Scanner was there and used at discretion of the customs officer. Now they have been turned 90 degrees. Still not in general use. One machine active. One machine getting prepared. Two more in plastic wrap.

Not much different to other airports.

Might add 15 seconds to your welcome to Thailand experience.

This forum is proof the country is already full of old fossils.

I came here by myself ... no questions asked!
