Thai passport for daughter

Featured Replies

So my ex is a Thai born in Sweden. I got 2 kids whereas my daughter is already 18. I want to buy land etc in her name. Mum who is in Sweden got her Thai passport last year. I want my daughter to get it. Mum doesn't want to help out even if I pay ticket for her and my daughter to visit Thailand and get it done. Grandmother on the other hand seems to want to help out. She also lives in Sweden.  Can my daughter get a thai passport with the help of grandmother? So we just skip the mother.

Your daughter is 18 so she can get a passport all by herself. On the other hand I understand the mothers stance in this case. That because you want to by land in your daughters name, and by that circumvent the rules regarding land and foreigners. Even if the land stands in your daughters name, the law looks at the purpose for buying the land, which in this case makes it illegal.

Not completely correct. Until they are 20 years old parental consent to do the application is required.

Info in Thai is here. http://www.consular.go.th/main/th/services/10150/111295-เยาวชน-(ต่ำกว่า-20-ปีบริบูรณ์).html

@khwaibah It doesn´t matter how sad you get. The law will still prevail.

Sorry, read that now. Thanks!

OP, while it's a side issue and not the business of the forum, I think the complete picture will give you better advice. I mean you must have a plan with buying land in Thailand in daughter's name. I've read threads about that before.

If I had Thai kids I would also be wanting to do that, esp if mother was X.

One would think the mother would be happy with the idea. Perhaps your trying to strip your wealth.

My daughter is born in Sweden and hasn't been registered at thai embassy in Sweden. My ex didn't have a thai passport at that time

That will have to be done for her to get a Thai birth certificate. Info here on embassy website. http://thaiembassy.se/en/birth-certificate/

She may be able to apply at the embassy for her first passport after the birth certificate is issued.

To apply for a passport here she would have to be registered in a house book and have a Thai ID card.

Thats great. Ty for the link. Now im going to look into it further. Ty for help

Would personally just wait until your daughter is 20 years old, then she can do it on her own and makes everything easier.
Could also be in your benefit as the baht being less strong, economy down: lower land prices.
