The Thai Meteorological Department has forecast isolated thundershowers and gusting wind for upper Thailand as another high-pressure wave rolls over the Northeast from China and a westerly trough moves through the North starting on Sunday (February 9).

The temperature will drop later in the coming week, it said.

Breakdown by region:

North – Isolated thunderstorms, gusting wind and hail mainly in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae and Nan on Sunday and Monday, followed by a temperature drop of 3-5 degrees Celsius, with minimum 10-17C, 1-10C on mountaintops

Northeast – Scattered thundershowers in Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon and Mukdahan on Sunday and Monday, followed by a temperature drop of 3-6C with minimum 7-13C

Central and East – Temperature drop of 1-3C with cool air, minimum 18-22C, and farmers should brace for possible crop damage.

South – More rain on Sunday and Monday and heavy rain mainly in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Phatthalung, Pattani and Narathiwat, and from Sunday to Wednesday wind-blown waves 2-3 metres high in lower South, so ships should proceed with caution and small boats stay ashore.

Not according to the windows app;

I do not trust the weather app as shown.  When I put in Weather for Ontario, I get Ontario County, Ont.  Ontario County, Ontario became defunct in 1973 and so what is being shown is incorrect.

I wouldn't expect a forecasting company (Foreca) that is based in Finland to give accurate long range forecasts for this region. I only ever find this web site to be useful for the coming 24hrs.

Rain could effect the sugar cane burning production. More bad news for the multi-national business conglomerates that own this country.????

Nice to read some good news :clap2:

I have problems believing any forecast ????

Having said that I don't know why the location distance should be a problem, but you could be right. Then next week or so should tell us.

I am going basically from experience. But it is quite well known, even among meteorologists, that further ahead a forecast is made, the less reliable it becomes. ????

I use the Windows based forecast on the day and it is usually just about right. But I don't bother looking ahead anymore.

I check the weather forecast every morning. have done since before the internet became easily available as weather had the potential to influence my offshore work life!

TMD (https://www.tmd.go.th/en/7-day_forecast.php ) is as accurate as you will get here, you have to look at your area as weather over Thailand is so diverse, "Windy" is ok also if you want to see incoming weather, they use a European "model" for forecasting, generally very good.

Weather forecasting is all about computer power, the bigger the computer the more accurate the data, the caveat being the more data you input (local conditions) the more accurate the data out, those living in remote areas are never going to get really accurate predictions.

Predictions is all they are, Mother Nature is fickle and subject to change at any time, it amuses me that people expect to have 100% accurate forecasts, simply not viable.

I open it and stick my head out, always accurate.

always accurate for the exact second your head is in the smoke.

But never accurate for tomorrow's, next week's, or even the next 5 hours... which is what we care care about.  we don't open the window because we only care about the future.

I will predict lows in the morning maybe 1 degree warmer or colder than normal.  plus or minus 10 for error.  In the afternoon, it will warm up.  likely.  when the sun dies, it will cool down.  probably.  wind might be present.  Clouds might form. And I hope you are not still reading this now....

Why don't you check professional sites?

This is UK:

https://www.windy.com/?53.154,7.428,5

Majour storm at the moment. Prognosis is it will hit Germany in the late evening and sweep over us during night.

This is Vietnam/Thailand:

https://www.windy.com/?15.183,106.131,7,m:d5Iajbq

Yesterday the storm was off the coast of Vietnam. It did actually not really look like it would hit Thailand, but at the moment they have heavy wind over Isaan.

The storm is unusually dry, it is not raining much. But I believe yesterday they had quite some rain in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

Another good weather site, especially if you are into sports is www.windfinder.com: https://www.windfinder.com/?utm_source=windfinder.com&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=redirect#3/59.8889/13.5352

The storm over the Atlantic has an interesting unusual pattern.

Have noticed  some brief moments of  quite strong wind  gusts here in  east Isaan . No hint of rain. Over the last few  weeks  overnight temperatures  have been erratic. Definitely not the average norm for the time of season.

Friend in Australia too has noted that there they are now experiencing a cold and  rainy spell with the weather not coming from  the usual direction. Some places  last week had 260 mm of rainfall. Sure that must have  put a  few  fires out  while it washed  what was left away !
