snoop1130
Southern border state of emergency extended by three months BANGKOK(NNT) - Violent incidents in southern border provinces have been in decline recently, following government operations to maintain public safety, along with peace negotiations and economic development in the area. The government has, however, decided to extend the state of emergency in the area for additional three months to ensure continuous enforcement of these measures. The state of emergency management committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, has announced the extension of the State of Emergency in three southern border provinces 20th March to 19th June 2020, which is the 59th extension since its imposition. This extension was proposed by the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4 Forward Command, due to a need to continue monitoring the situation and maintain peace. The State of Emergency allows special laws to be enforced within the area of validity. The committee says that violence in the southern border region has declined in the period 20th December 2019 to 10th January 2020, while villagers feel safer because of the protection provided by local security agencies. The authorities are also advancing peace negotiations and economic development. In the meeting, the committee agreed to improve the efficiency of security case processing, by increasing the number of police officials in the area. It also urged the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) to enforce SIM card user registration strictly and relay such information to Provincial Police Region 4, which will help the police when prosecuting those involved in violence. DPM Gen Prawit has urged security agencies to promote confidence among the general public in their ability to manage the situation, maintain peace and support economic growth. Agencies are instructed to analyze the situation carefully, run active intelligence operations with villager participation, as well as strictly and enforce the law fairly. -- © Copyright NNT 2020-02-18 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking Thailand news and visa info

Stocky
This is not news, they've done it every quarter for the last 14 years; a continuation of abject failure. If they didn't seek an extension that would be worth reporting. This is just yawnsworthy garbage. . Edited February 18, 2020 by Stocky
