Thailand has become a hot transit choice for Chinese travelers going abroad amid the #COVID-19 outbreak as multiple countries and regions have issued different kinds of entrance restrictions for visitors from China.

Experts said that Thailand may benefit from the "entrance restriction" phase despite the overall hit to the country's tourism sector from a decline in Chinese visitors.

"Many of my Chinese classmates have chosen to transfer from a third country," said Cindy, a Chinese student in the University of Melbourne in Australia.

According to information from China's National Immigration Administration on Sunday, all travelers from or transferring from the Chinese mainland are now not permitted to enter Australia within 14 days of their exit from the Chinese mainland, except Australian citizens, permanent residents and their direct relatives. Those exempt individuals are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine after landing in the country.

Great news!

Should I give up breathing for Songkran?

Having said that, a Chinese nurse apparently contracted it through her eyes according to a report I saw a couple of weeks back.

Perhaps I need to a three wise monkeys impression too?

Maybe this is why the Thai government is preparing for stage 3. Because maybe it is already at stage 3 but they still will not refuse their Chinese soo to be owners.

Thailand relies on temperature scans as its first line of screening. However, the scans have proven  worthless. This is the consensus of the experts who controlled MERS and SARS and it is why  Israel, USA, Canada and others do not bother.  What works are interviews with polite informational sessions including the giving of what to do if you think you are sick cards. It is how many of the initial infected patients were first identified in the USA.

Thailand will throw open its doors to the Chinese , all for money.

Sad.

Very sad.

I saw a Chinese student on ABC news the other day saying she flew to Oz via Thailand.

Now this in todays Oz news.https://www.theaustralian.com.au/higher-education/western-sydney-university-pays-1500-to-chinese-students-to-help-beat-travel-ban/news-story/ea1a5bdf383fcf90ca47a2307f9fe0af?nk=dbe9f8067b867dc4b0b5f60d92ea1f46-1582279610

Most certainly they are digging their hole deeper and deeper. Soon there may also be restrictions on travel from Thailand, then it's game over.

If she did, she won't be the first one as coronavirus is mostly contracted from touching something infected and then unknowingly rubbing their eyes, nose or mouth.

It isn't likely from particles free floating in the air and then hitting one's eyes..

BS news.... another post today by businesses says the place is dead without any Chinese tourists and most of the other nations are making alternative destination plans!

We had 4 customers from Hong Kong cancel trips to Thailand for next week, because they were worried about possible 14-day quarantine on returning from Thailand.

If other countries figure out that Thailand allows people to "cheat" the travel restrictions, then that would be really bad for Thailand.

Clue to the ignorant - students can still be infected with the virus. Intelligence has no bearing...clearly.

The Health Minister of course will be well aware of this. I wonder why he wasn't handing out complete bodysuits to the arriving foreigners.

Thai Niece of mine lives in Bahrain with her Farang Husband and son has just been turned back at Bahrain airport on arrival as they are not allowing any one in from the Far East.

And only today, the WHO have stated that the window of opportunity to get this thing under control, is rapidly closing.

More and more Countries are declaring cases of the Virus, and the major concern  now, is that there will be a huge outbreak in a Country, that is not adequately prepared, or have relatively poor health care systems.

Not so quick.

The Chinese claims it can be aerosolized: https://www1.racgp.org.au/newsgp/clinical/claims-coronavirus-can-spread-through-the-air

SARS-CoV did spread via fecal oral route via fumes from a not well designed toilet pipe system in Hong Kong. It is suspected it could be the same for SARS-CoV-2: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-02-20/fecal-transmission-may-be-behind-coronavirus-s-rapid-spread

First job of a government is to protect it's citizens.

This is one of the worst cases of leadership i've ever know. Literally all countries border China have closed their borders temporarily to China. Thailand is even more vulnerable because so many Chinese come to Thailand.

Just unbelievable. Really does give the theory 'China owns Thailand' some legs.

And this will cause the rest of the world to treat Thailand as part of China, expect quarantines or no entry when flying out. The usurpers are condemning Thais to duke it out alone.
