The problem with that is Thai's from what I have observed of them in the 15 years that I have come here and now live here, see Thai's as a selfish lot, I don't mean that disrespectfully, I mean it as a fact, i.e. they are all for themselves, not for the benefit of others let alone their nation.

 

They have always been a submissive lot, rarely will you see them rise up to a teacher, a police officer, a politician, they will wai, they will apologise, they will be respectful, they know no other way and don't think outside the square, albeit it those who have travelled overseas and seen how things are different know how to but won't because they know they will be challenging authority, although my wife who lived overseas with me and is a good listener and observer, saw me take on and challenge those in authority and now serves it to Thai's at all levels when required, albeit it with respect, but won't back down when she knows she is right which has raised a few eyebrows, and rubbed a few noses out of joint, but good for her, only if others would do the same instead of being for themselves.

 

I don't believe we will see change in our lifetime that's because for change to happen, people need to unite and as I have said above, Thai's are for themselves, be it if the poor get measly monthly handouts, land to harvest crops on with the government buying their crops for a pittens, while allowing them to burn it and inhale the smoke and affect others at the same time, as long as they can live, they are content, they are not fighters, i.e. unless they feel threatened and will usually gang up on one another or know of some corrupt cop or politician who will sort their problem out for a price.

 

The above said, I buy my time here in retirement, live comfortably and when the time comes, will exit back to my controlled state albeit it as expensive as it is.

Spot on.......... Sadly though i think this will all end in bullets and not ballots....... Every "Civilized" country has had to go through teething pains to grow into maturity...... sadly if the military keep hi-jacking this process the outcome will be violent and destructive........ " The guiding light has gone and what's left doesn't have the brightness of a four watt bulb ".........

What can one even say? If there was any doubt that the army DOES NOT represent the Thai people, here it is. I rest my case, your honor. The only hope the nation had of restoring democracy and competence, has now been outlawed by a very insecure bunch of overly entitled men, who care not one iota for their people. 

 

This is the opposite of justice. And the people know it. The FFP was very popular. The popularity of the army has been sinking for years. They are now despised even more than ever. Just wait. The people WILL have a say in this, hopefully. The light cannot be held back forever. 

 

The youth is the hope of this nation. And many of them are active, and really care. Just wait Prayuth. You will eventually be ushered out the door, in a very inglorious manner!

Yes, unfortunately, is good advice. Francisca Castro being non-Thai and in the human rights group, I hope will spread the word. Having said that I'm not sure other governments aren't really bothered.

Democracy is certainly finished in any country where those who have the vote , do not work and rely on government benefits reach large enough numbers to decide who governs....England for example..Where roughly 47% of voters are 'lifelong labour' and the same number are 'lifelong tory'..it does not take too many minorities to be the deciding factor in all elections

Firstly these are not legitimate legal bodies. There Pinnochio army yes men. Prayut should be in jail for high treason and theft. Prawit also..This has gone to far. Thais need to boycott there own country to remove parasites.
