Thailand's tourism minister: Everything will be fine after Songkran - the hot weather will blow the virus away!

"Italy has the largest number of coronavirus cases in Europe, currently 165, and has reported its fifth death from the virus.

It has taken tough measures to try and contain the outbreak, including enforcing a lockdown in several small towns in the Lombardy and Veneto regions.  For the next two weeks, 50,000 residents will not be able to leave without special permission."

And what does China do? Ease restrictions! What does Thailand do? Issue an absolutely nonsensical statement by its Tourism minister :-

"The virus can't survive long in hot weather". And he's not even a doctor!

"The minister also had good news for vendors, hoteliers, retailers and traders especially in tourist areas. Government measures and budgets sought by his ministry would be revealed to help everyone in the coming week." Yes that's going to be a big help if they are lying in hospital beds! And does the "everyone" include farangs that will no doubt be charged at least double the Thai price by the hospitals

"The minister was pictured next to several superheroes including Captain America and The Incredible Hulk, notes Thaivisa." Says it all really!  They'll probably be of just as much use as the promised "measures and budgets"!

Flu does spread quicker in colder temperatures (there's never usually a 'flu season' in summer, for example), so he may have a point, albeit not entirely substantiated.

The worlds top scientists do not know much about it yet, so how can the Thai tourism minister outguess them.

And if it doesn't, and the Government run out of masks:-

Protection: A spit hood like the one placed on Steven Cairns

"A DRUNK man who lashed out at police officers and tried to spit at one of them was made to wear a specially designed head covering to prevent a repeat of his behaviour."

Maybe not totally elutioned - at least not when it comes to this particular statement - generally speaking, but unfortunately something of importance seems to have been lost in translation - again....

1. Is the new coronavirus more afraid of heat or cold?

Coronavirus is more sensitive to heat.

The virus is moderately stable in a suitable maintenance solution at 4 °C and can be stored for several years at -60 ° C.

However, as the temperature increases, the virus's resistance decreases, but it must reach a certain temperature for a certain time to inactivate the virus.

* The virus is sensitive to heat and can effectively inactivate the virus when it reaches a temperature of 56 ° C for 30 minutes - with other words he promise a RECORD hot period since the present record temp in Thailand during the last 60 years was measured 12 April 2016 in the town of Sukhothai to 44.3 ° C only  .... ????

I thought Smoking Cannibus here in Thailand was a One way Street to an extended stay in the Bangkok Hilton. Some one needs to check what he is apparently Smoking.

If it is or he is going to say is perfectly Legal now, than I know where he can buy some waterfront property that comes with 60 Rai already planted! I understand that a lot of the Bar Ladies from Pattaya are staffing the home. So along with the Virus he can get Blown away with it... (What Circus did he get hired from, anyway??)

More and more countries are now banning entrance to anyone that has visited Thailand recently despite Thailand not declaring any new cases for weeks. This clearly shows that nobody believes the Thai governments official reporting of coronavirus cases.

I say 'slap it right up em'. Hopefully a back breaking few months of low tourist numbers puts thousands of liars, cheats and scammers out of a job and puts some manners on the Thais as hosts. Sadly we all know that its more likely they will only con, deceive and cheat the farang that still visit.

Pipat Ratchakitprakarn is the biggest clowns in the world and how stupid does he think the Thai people are?

Thailand's tourism minister: Everything will be fine after Songkran - the hot weather will blow the virus away.

At the same time WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warns that the time may be running out for the world community.
We still have an opportunity to limit it. But while doing so, we must prepare for all eventualities. This outbreak could go in any direction, the WHO chief continued.

Is he guessing, or has he been reading some of the articles posted on hear saying that the virus is less likely to flourish so much in colder weather? Try reading some of them. I'm not saying he's right, and he is a jerk, but there may be some truth in what he's trying to say.

Funny how you use this guy's name, who is fighting against the hysteria, for a post that is the dictionary definition of hysteria. Seriously? Google Earth showing burning of bodies? Got a citation for that, or did some nut-job see a shadow and jumped to one hell of a conclusion?

Dr Campbell is a bell end .He believes the Chinese figures .He also believes that this virus came from an animal ,when the more likely thing is that it came from the grade 4 bio lab in Wuhan ,probably by accident .

Well evidence does show it came from an animal. The only evidence it came from a lab is fruit-loops online shouting about it very loudly, kind of ironic really ????

I think enough has already been said about the qualifications of the some people to make such a baseless statement.  Comments such as this uneducated opinion will only lead to some people becoming less cautious about doing the few things that are known or thought to help prevent the spread of this virus.  The face masks generally sold in Thailand seemingly do little to prevent the spread of this disease as they are basically masks designed to filter out airborne dust and pollen during allergy season.  Yet, they are still being sold at inflated prices as a means to prevent getting the corona virus.  Totally irresponsible comments by someone in a position to influence people to abandon all prcautions.

Covid 19 has reached a strange plateau: sustained transgression.

Most public health officials in USA haven't a clue what it is. It is a paragraph is some textbook covered decades ago. Thailand/ Cambodia/ Vietnam/USA are all doing the same schtick China did November-December and the first half of January: no testing kits > no patients > no problem.
This is fine, until it isn't. Updater here:
