  • Prevent the virus spreading with fines and jail terms, are they totally insane?

  • The coronavirus will obey Thai laws just as well as Thais do.

  • There have been hundreds of potential super spreaders here and more continue to come as flights from China continue.

The government’s “Response to Problems” checklist remains absurdly predictable and consistently ineffective.

# 1 Ignore the problem

# 2 Deny the problem

# 3 Lie about the problem

# 5 Blame someone else for the problem

# 4 Make threats about the problem

When none of this works and the problem persists….return to step #1 and repeat as often as necessary.

Aka ... Rinse and repeat. Very well known and practiced by experienced super spreaders.

The confirmed case clusters in Korea, Italy, Spain and maybe elsewhere can largely be traced back to one person so I don't see why this topic is such a source for comedy -- the OP states that there is now or soon be authority to restrain someone who may be positive or is positive but will not cooperate.

Thai people are champions of the way to make big meetings without any result!
Most of those present do not even know what is being discussed!

I think it translated wrong it's not jail time and fines, it's isolation and hospital bills

“Feb 25 (Reuters) - Iraq indefinitely extended an entry ban on travelers from China and Iran and instituted similar bans on travelers from Thailand, South Korean, Japan, Italy and Singapore, the health ministry said on Tuesday.

What do they intend to do?  Council the virus?  Convince it not to super spread?  What nonsense!

...only if they are a member of the FFP.

No clue why the "authorities" need more "power"? They already have more than enough "laws" to detain anyone for anything at anytime.

Agreed.

On the positive side, airfares to Phenom Penn, Singapore, Yangon and Ho Chi Minh city the weekend before Songkran are reasonably priced.

Be interesting to see how many new cases popup in LOS after the HiSo Thais get back after their foreign Songkran holiday. ????

In Amazing Thailand, there is no toe tags that will say Corona virus, only regular flu or,  irregular flu, burn immediately, but certainly no covid stuff.  Honestly! Only 37 allowed.

Geezer

Just out of curiosity, would the pollution levels increase the amount of people that die as a result of a weaker immunity or are they planning to try and kil the virus with pollution because DAM its bad today. 260pm 2.5. If they cant control this how can they control a super spreader and i aint referring to my wife????.

Fines and jail for people is a seriously well thought out plan. Fill the jails with the sick and the government makes money. Genius!!

I will defend the government on one thing;

The Thai  position is consistent with the rest of the world and is necessary to  encourage compliance with  quarantine orders. It is not unreasonable. Unfortunately, as has been pointed out, enforcement is a different matter.

We may find that by April, the world will not be welcoming Thai visitors no matter how hiso or wealthy. For a hint of what's to come, look at the US position requiring a buffer period of 14 days if having traveled to a listed country (e.g. China).

A super speader mounts on the back of a tractor and connects with the PTO.   You dump, 5 or 6 bags of super in the hopper and off you go.  Calling a highly contagious person a super spreader is a blight on all those hardworking  real super spreaders!

The problem has not been lack of cooperation, it was slow detection and inadequate response.

Proposing a solution for a problem that does not exist shows a poor understanding of the real issues.

most people who die, die as a result of the virus attacking an already sick individual (chronic respiratory affections come to mind). A good immune system is currently the only way to be optimistic about a good outcome and it works for 97 % of the infected. There are also hints that warm climates reduce virulency of this specific virus or might even neutralise their potency altogether.

The only way to stop spreading this virus is if every single person on the planet is totally isolated until the virus had died so about one month.Good luck with that.

So having the enhanced authority to deal with a recalcitrant potential super-spreader is not a problem while that has been the likely cluster producing problem in many countries to date.

my guess is on AMULETS

Nought will come of it until a 'super spreader' discloses some winning  lotto  numbers

He stressed that the COVID-19 situation in Thailand is under control,

So why the concern over a "super spreader" if everything's under control and patients are isolated under going treatment, unless of course you're referring to "fake news"?

A lot of conflicting actions here.  Claims of only 30 some cases yet measures being put in place.  I smell a lot of bs in the reporting.

NCC1701A they are coming after you

And the Chinese?
