I think we should lay off Greta, the poor thing doesn't really know what she's doing, and after all, she does make a bit more sense than the climate movement's previous spokesperson, Koko the gorilla.

 

Activists dragged out this captive gorilla before a climate conference in 2016, filmed her doing the sign language she had learned, and then interpreted her signing as ‘I am gorilla, I am flowers, animals. I am Nature. Koko love man. Earth Koko love. But man stupid… stupid! Koko sorry, Koko cry. Time hurry. Fix Earth! Help Earth! Hurry! Protect Earth. Nature watches you. Thank you.’

 

The activists can never stop themselves performing these infantile stunts of emotional blackmail. The anointing of Greta as a child saint (with David Attenborough as the ancient sage) is another tin-ear attempt in this direction.

 

They'll get fed up with Greta in a year or so, and find a new saint, probably from an endangered ethnic minority, to carry the agenda forwards.
