I think that tvf/The Nation, forgets that we are the customers, and somehow we can be inconvenienced by the ads, but hey, "never mind".

They have plenty of readers and posters, why should they care.

I don't expect a significant amount of posters will stop posting or reading for this reason.

Anyway there are ways to avoid those ads and pop-ups.

I installed a system today, a very easy way, as at 71+ I am not at all computer minded.

Don't forget, though, we are not customers really, we are here FOC!

I've contacted tvf advertiser's in the past....

Who else are the ads aimed at then?

You're quite right, we could be customers of the advertisers but we sure aren't Thaivisa's "customers" (in the accepted sense of the word) unless we click on an ad and put money into the forum's pockets.

Slow loading too. Making it almost impossible to view the forum on a smart phone.

Does the same thing on my macbook pro and only happens with this site. On the last thread about this problem a few days ago a tech support guy posted he was trying to do something to fix it and asked if people could post or send him screen shots to help him sort out the problem.

...accompanied by another (Google Ads?) strip across the bottom of the screen which takes up another, near as dammit, 10%.   Yes, I've measured them.

Measured it wrong, that ad actually takes over 16% of the screen.

greedy sites are the reasons ad blockers are so popular

its a vicious cycle

sites lose revenue because of ad blockers so put on more ads

more users get upset so install ad blockers as well

and on and on.

maybe thaivisa should be behind a paywall

Charlie say the moderator are volunteer= not get paid.

1)TVF get the news free from other place, free.

2) And topics free from member. Eg Thai music we love. Very popular.

3) The moderators is free. (Surprise about that)

4) And ad is online = do nothing. But get money.

5) Is about thailand, but 0 thai staff. Free.

= a very good business. Good idea! Clever. Easy money. Everybody, member and mod do the work.

Smart boss get all the money!! 55555

What?

You're right, thanks, Rule 25.

Correct and don't forget the Rule preamble

Thaivisa.com is a privately owned commercial website and reserves the right to remove or block any user, user created content or files from the Thaivisa forums without reason at their discretion.

We're all pretty clued up on the rules - nothing like a light spanking to keep you on your toes.

It’s getting to be pathetic.  I will be needing an attorney for two things in the near future.  A condo purchase (I know...stupid) and a will.  I will be contacting the attorneys that advertise here in order to let them know just why I won’t be using their services.
