Popular Post Antonymous
If you are a guy at a stage in your life (age doesn’t matter) where late night partying and/or whoring and drinking are of paramount importance in your life, Pattaya undoubtedly ticks all the boxes. There is nowhere else in Thailand that offers such accessible in-your-face hedonism. For you Pattaya is Heaven on earth. Many here will have experienced the fruits of Pattaya at one time or another and so I think we nearly all recognize what the OP is saying. However, most (but not all) expats grow beyond that stage after a while and some appreciate quite different aspects of life in Thailand rather more. For them Pattaya is just Sodom-On-Sea. Each to their own. But Pattaya is most definitely not ‘the best place in Thailand’ for the majority who live here. 1

Popular Post thecyclist
The Pattaya of 2o/25/30 years ago, I probably would have agreed with you :It was still farang town back then:no hordes of Chinese, Indians Russians. The 'eye candy' of a higher quality. You didn't have to bike 20km to feel like you are out of the city and in the countryside. No massive traffic jams to match Bangkok on weekends. Beach road had plenty of benches to sit and meet, teeming with attractive 'ladies', day and night. That said, it probably is still better and definitely much cheaper than Bangkok, Phuket or Hua Hin and more exciting than Isan or Northern Thailand. (Phuket is okay during the rainy season when prices are similar to Pattaya, but skyrocket over the high season, while Hua Hin is outrageous year round.) 3
Popular Post bkk6060
Girls, golf, inexpensive housing, modern malls, food options, geez etc. etc. Like others, this place is the only reason I am here. It is called working for 35 years and now enjoying life. Sad some cannot grasp the concept. Edited March 3, 2020 by bkk6060 7 2

Popular Post murraynz
Life is never boring in Pattaya. Always lots to do, day and night. Easy access to BKK. Reasonable pricing. Wide variety of restaurants. Good supermarkets as no shopping malls. Easy cheap transport. 24/7 We don't all live in the midst of noisy sexy bars, but can visit easily from neighbouring areas. Too many people condem the place without even knowing it.. 9

AMEN We laugh at that stereotype but actually Pattaya has quite a few gyms around and conveniently located, too. Many of our members don't like to think about that, however. ???? Lot of fit guys in Pattaya and more now that the Russians are back. Some of those women are in great shape and add to the Pattaya visuals. The Chinese also defy the usual stereotype of course. We have other stereotypes for them. Not many gyms in the weeds of Jomtien, however, so it's about like Hua Hin.

Because it may be hard for a woman to understand that there are a lot of guys who really prefer to pay and be with many different young women, than be stuck with one woman their own age...even if it's "love." If a 60 yr old guy wants to be with a 20 yr old hottie, he knows that he will have to pay. But then what else is he going to spend his money on? It's money well spent. 7 2

Pattaya encompasses all the different aspects of life in Thailand within its large boundaries, and so one can still progress to various stages there right on up to the crematorium stage, all without having to move very far. Nor is one restricted from enjoying the occasional holiday outside of Pattaya should one choose, the more enjoyable for knowing you'll be returning home before long. ????

JAFO
Pattaya is a dump but that is the charm for some (even me sometimes as I don't live there and nice knowing I leave). Its kind of like Cabo San Lucas, Mexico or Nassau, Bahamas etc. The sleaze about those locations has an appeal. I take it for what it is when there working. Generally speaking Pattaya is filthy, loads of traffic, terrible roads to drive, usually packed with Indian and Chinese tourists. Scams are endless and the food is overpriced unless you get out of the area a bit. I personally think it is an alright place to visit from time to time but I am always reminded as I am leaving that its not a place I would ever live. That said however, there is always some good entertainment people watching. Seeing that poor old foreigner with fresh tats walking with his young "Date" in tow talking pigeon English holding hands is always good for a laugh. ????. Or the foreigner on the back of his "Dates" Scooter. Maybe the getting attacked by Ladyboys or paying a lot of money for <deleted> cocktails is the "Edgy" part the OP likes.????. IMHO Pattaya is clearly not the best place to live in Thailand but everyone has different standards and expectations of their living environment. 1
