Virus woes: Pattaya landlord complains to the media after he's left with a million baht of rotten face masks

A landlord in Pattaya has appealed for help from the media after he bought 100,000 face masks for distribution in China in February.

What he thought were high quality masks turned out to be rubbish - they are now stinking his house out and covered in fungus.

He wants his million baht back but the police are doing nothing.

Twenty seven year old Artur Sae-wang's boss in China asked him to buy the masks so that he could donate them to the needy suffering from the coronavirus outbreak.

So he went to a hospital in the Don Muang area of Bangkok on February 7th to check out a supply of masks for sale. After determining that they were the real McCoy he parted with 1,075,000 of his own money.

However, three days later when they were due to be exported he was advised that they were bad quality and had started to rot and get infected with fungus.

He reported the matter to Don Muang police who asked him to take the evidence home with him because it was causing the station to stink.

Since then he has heard no developments in the case so he turned to the media.

He was pictured with many boxes of "Non-Woven 3-ply tie on type face masks".

No sympathy, and if they are seen dumped on the roadside everybody will know where they came from.

I wonder if the mistook the stink of rotten masks with the stink of corruption?

It shouldn't be hard to get rid of those in Pattay.  Get a pick up and wait until dark.

He could try passing them off as tampons.......:whistling:

Start a bonfire, end of problems.

Isn't it illegal to export masks out of Thailand these days? There's a huge shortage.

Given the stink, perhaps that's what they started out as before recycling!

Is that supposed to mean that he bought the masks in China or was going to distribute the masks in China ?

Did you miss the real profiteering gouger here?

These were being sold at a time when Thailand was seeking a supplier of face masks. I am not sure that there are many if any private hospitals in the Don Meuang area of Bangkok so maybe some opportunist employee at a government hospital is the real low-life here?

He bought them in Thailand to send to China so his Chinese boss could make a fortune his altruistic Chines boss could give them to the needy. :coffee1:

It's ok, nobody respects the law!

from the grapevines o a reliable source, this very same man made a killing a month of so ago buying masks 500,000 for 1 baht each and immediately resold them for 2 baht each making a killing in the process,

so now smarty pants, go and blame Mr. McCoy, first nam Real...

There were so many people on the one of the Bangkok Facebook buy and sell groups who were trying to gouge people on face masks.

Karma is a female dog.

Except when it is against a foreigner, then suddenly they know the law exactly and sure will maintain it.

The heroin dealer might be able to help him shift them ????

He is a perfect example; of why many a Big grocery outlet have put up signs:

"No Change Of Mind Return Policy"

they think they are going to make a big load of bucks/baht, and then find no way of flipping the sheers quantities upon an increasing suspicous/cautious market

same going for dunny paper, paper towel, face tissues, femeine hygiene, hand sanitising products etc etc

one gets the same good feelings, when read of ticket scalpers being caught outside the front gate of a big game...

Did he forget the Thai line.......'No Refund'.....

Save them for Halloween.. a rotting mask just might be the new craze!

Maybe that mold can kill bacteria and viruses? The Chinese might pay double. Ship 'em out!

don't know what is worst. A hospital selling masks despite shortage of masks in Thailand or that guy trying to tell the world he did it only to help the poor Chineses people, out of interest.

amazing story.

but i can confirm that there is a real worldwide shortage of masks.

many friends of mine asked many pharmacies in few countries - there

are no masks at all !!
