Acer Laptop Guarantee?

Featured Replies

I bought a new Acer Laptop in January and on its 2 month aniversary it suddenly died. I took it to Acer, Chonburi on the 3rd March and having heard nothing from them chased them today. They are telling me that their 2 year warrantee doesnt cover a burnt out motherboard. Does this sound feasible or am I being fobbed off?

Do you know how it was burnt out (why) and what does the warranty document say about the situation?

The laptop is with an actual Acer service center in Chonburi. I only used it as a desktop never took it out of the house. I also used a surge protector.

I'm waiting for the manager to call me back, could be a long wait.

What are the actual symptoms ? no power (lights, fan etc), power but doesn't boot, no display etc ?

Warrenty would usually not cover surge damage etc but with a laptop a surge will damage the external power supply, if that is not damaged then the dealer cant really argue surge damage etc.

Update.

It seems the manager didn't want to speak to me so they replaced the motherboard under guarantee.

I picked it up today. And it seems okay, not running hot like it did before.

Thanks for the update and advising the outcome, always nice to know how a story like this actually ends.
