6-month Multiple Entry Visa for U.S. Citizens

Featured Replies

Hi Everybody,

I'm hoping to go visit my boyfriend in Thailand from the end of this month until August. I reached out to the Boston Thai Consulate and they said I need to go to the New York Consulate to apply for a 6-month multiple-entry visa. I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone at the New York Consulate and the information on their website is confusing. Can someone please share details about the required documents and availability of this 6-month multiple-entry visa? I'm most confused about the required "certify letter from employer" -does anyone know what that means? I'm also planning on walking in without an appointment -is that okay? Lastly, do you know if there will be any restrictions for me because of COVID-19?

Thank you,

Sophie

Probably easier to just get a 60 day SETV, then extend that by 30 days later while in Thailand.  Then go to almost any neighboring country and get another 60 day SETV and again extend that by 30 days.

Fly to bkk -get 30 days--extend another at immig

Can go to laos for a thai visa or do the max 2 border runs 30 days each and extended each

bkk 30+30 extentsion

burma border 30 +30 ext

burma border 30+ 30 ext

Or laos for visa 60 days +30 ext

In 12 yrs  here I have NEVER arrived with a visa from the states

In response to your specific question, the Consulate requires a letter from your employer certifying your current employment.  If you are working, that should be easy to obtain from your HR department.  If you are not currently employed, the Consulate wants a letter of guaranty from a US resident or an affiliated organization, in effect guaranteeing or attestingo for you.  I hope this clarification helps.
