I hope to cross the friendship bridge 2 into Laos then come back into Thailand on same day. I've never done a visa run by myself and wonder if there are any up to date guides available.

Thanks

If your Going for a true visa can not be done same day apply day 1 between 0900 and 1100. Pick up day 2 1400 to 1600 if you are going for Visa exempt 39bday yes no problems bas long as you haven't already got 2 within this year

Different people use "visa run" to mean different things. Would you

  1. run with a visa, ie leave Thailand with a multiple-entry visa and make a new entry into Thailand; or
  2. run to get a new visa, ie leave Thailand to get a new visa from a Thai embassy or consulate and make a new entry into Thailand; or
  3. run without a visa, ie leave Thailand and subsequently make a visa-exempt entry?

If flight isn't recommended and the land crossings are closed... What on earth (or sky) other options are there?

The bridge from Mukdahan to Savannakhet is not on that list.

The only one at a bridge closed appears to be the one Nakhon Phanom to Laos.

The crossings that are closing are all small little used ones.

This is confusing.

How many crossings are there in one tiny area?

The bridge. Crossing literally crosses into Suvannakhet, which IS closed, yet apparently its open. Lol

Guess they have border crossings s every few hundred yards /:

Only the entry point at the airport in Savannakhet is closed. The bridge from Mukdahan to Savannakhet is open.

The only crossing from Thailand to Savannakhet province open for foreigners is the bridge.

There is also crossings from Vietnam to Savannakhet province that is closed.
