So is saying stuff like "smashed in the face with a reality check" supposed to be a substitute for a rational argument? And still no comment on the actual facts? Let's review, shall we?

England: 33% higher per capita infection rate

England: 398% higher per capita death rate

You're happy with Boris and angry at Trump. And you don't even live in the US. And you can't even make an attempt to explain your logic?

Meh... I think you've had enough. See ya!

Come on. The US is just behind Europe on the diffusion curve. The way this virus usually spreads, the US will be in the same situation as Europe now in max. one or two wèeks.

Reference? didn't think so.

Which claims? Chloroquine is widely known. It was studied years ago with SARS.

Fauci throws cold water on Trump's declaration that malaria drug chloroquine is a 'game changer'

A day after President Donald Trump declared an anti-malaria drug a “game changer” in the fight against the novel coronavirus, the nation’s top infectious disease expert downplayed any role it might play in the fast-moving pandemic and said signs of the drug’s promise were purely “anecdotal.”

Fauci’s statements at a White House briefing Friday amounted to clinical cold water thrown on the president’s repeated upbeat assessments on the U.S. fight against the virus, also known as COVID-19...

On Thursday, Trump declared an anti-malaria drug called chloroquine a “game changer” in the effort to develop a coronavirus treatment and announced the drug had been “approved.”

really surprising how people listen to his false/misleading statements and barely nobody listen to Dr. Fauci correcting statement.... that's very dangerous listening to his misleading medical/medication comments, he should let the experts speak and shut his mouth

For those who may be unfamiliar, there is a natural dichotomy between scientific research and bureaucratic health administration (including hospitals).  Both may be right in their individual mandates but can differ greatly.

Doctors and hospitals are rule followers, they will not prescribe medicines for any purpose that a government has not authorized, even if they know it works. Dr. Fauci is king rule maker. Science is completely different and has a mandate to work with the unknown, that is their primary purpose.

There are currently many medications under consideration and being used experimentally to fight the coronavirus. Chloroquinone is one of the more promising ones and has been studied since the original SARS outbreak. https://aac.asm.org/content/53/8/3416 among many. To hide this fact from the general public is wrong.

What Trump said and what Dr. Fauci said were correct in their own respect. Elon Musk is also touting the potential of Chloroquine, and man, he's the man who will take covid-19 to Mars.

Trump said that chloroquine is a "game changer". Do you get the difference between "may be" and "is"?

“And that’s where the FDA has been so great. They’ve gone through the approval process; it’s been approved. And they took it down from many, many months to immediate. So we’re going to be able to make that drug available by prescription.”

Really?

I'm sure there are more of his inaccurate claims out there but why bother?

I didn't question/commented on the medication effects and/or approval, I question Trump's comments which are/were misleading. As you, I also know the difference between science testing/approval/open mind and (strict) rule makers, mostly FDA, whom (usually) don't accept medications tested by outsiders but that's a different topic, here it's about Trump keeping his mouth shut because is POTUS and people will listen to his blablabla and that will have an immediate high price effect on any medication name coming out off his mouth

Chloroquine is dirt cheap and easy to manufacture in great quantity. It's been generic for decades

Problem is that it's efficacy in treating Covid-19 is poor in relation to hydroxychloroquine, and can have serious interactions with other meds........."Chloroquine was ruled out due to the risk of interactions with other medications for common comorbidities in infected patients........."

You mean a realist? Unlike Trump who was in denial when crucial steps could have been taken. But that's what happens when you prefer the advice of cranks on Fox to that of real scientists. And because of that foolishness, a lot more people will die.

trump was in denial and his ignorance has and will cost lives.........

U.S. intelligence agencies were issuing ominous, classified warnings in January and February about the global danger posed by the coronavirus while President Donald Trump and lawmakers played down the threat and failed to take action that might have slowed the spread of the pathogen, according to U.S. officials familiar with spy agency reporting.

Intelligence agencies "have been warning on this since January," said a U.S. official who had access to intelligence reporting that was disseminated to members of Congress and their staffs as well as to officials in the Trump administration, and who, along with others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive information.

"Donald Trump may not have been expecting this, but a lot of other people in the government were - they just couldn't get him to do anything about it," this official said. "The system was blinking red."

Sadly you are going to go down with the ship. The crime family (thanks  Steve Bannon - you gave him the devilish playbook ) will take a lot of the US down with him when what is needed now is sane, responsible bi-bipartisanship leadership. Any bail outs will be made to bail out his properties, golf courses and the like and his Wall St pals he will throw his working class supporters under a bus whilst dialing up the xenophobic rhetoric for deflection. Like a scorpion stinging it's host - it's just  what he does. Didn't take long to sack his own staff. Judge a man as to how he treats his friend's and neighbours.

Despite all of the things that trump has done wrong, all of the lying and even stealing funds from a charity for his own use (found guilty of this and made to pay millions in retribution), his supporters just cannot see any fault in him and I'm at a loss to understand why this is.

It's well known and well printed/published that trump made light of the virus and although several posters have shown his exact words, still his supporters won't accept it.

He also disbanded the CDC and then said he knew nothing about that, another blatant lie as can be seen in the following.....

"A video has emerged of Trump talking about cutting the U.S. pandemic response team in 2018 — days after claiming that he knew nothing about the disbanded White House unit".
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/coronavirus-video-trump-pandemic-team-cut-2018-a9405191.html

I suppose it's a case of "there are none so blind as those who will not see" but when lies and deceit override clear thinking and common decency, then there really isn't any hope, and the sooner this sad-sack moves on, one way or another, the better.

Chloroquine (mentioned by the US president) is a 70 year old generic drug used for treating malaria worldwide. There were 220 million cases of malaria last year, not including it's use to prevent malaria while travelling. It can be manufactured by the ton most anywhere. It interferes with covod-19 viral replication.

The Japanese drug (made by China in experimental quantities) is a new general anti-viral Influenza drug, which China has said looks promising. But beware business hanky-panky behind all these drugs going forward particularly from US big pharma and the power hungry CCP.

The fact that you compare the two as being equivalents pretty much damns everything else you have to say I'm afraid. In the UK we are now united behind our PM and stand together as a people of whatever political persuasion to fight this damn thing. That's what being a leader for all the people means.

Unfortunately, For many hating Trump trumps everything. Blame the lying MSM not Trump for that.

I find it strange that malarial drug is used instead.

Isn't malaria caused by a parasitic eukaryotes and not a virus?

As far as I know, tests have been made in China and more recently in France, with significant positive results. However, it would need more extensive testing.

The main problem with this drug is that it is not recommended for people aged 65+.
