Many fear that the outbreak, hitherto felt most keenly in Bangkok, may now move to the provinces, notes Thaivisa.

You kind of have to wonder whether the geniuses running the show ever considered the impact that the BKK closures were predictably going to have on dispersing people throughout the country, at a time when BKK is the center of the outbreak here.

I'm guessing... not.

Not suggesting the closures order was wrong..... Just saying, actions have consequences that might have been thought thru a bit more....

Those that have lost their jobs in Bangkok and most probably have little money, where do they sleep and eat tonight and tomorrow, etc.

Think about it.

Govt needs to step in and spend money in Stimulus package , lots of gold and Jewels around

If the farm workers get sick in large numbers, food supply to BKK will dwindle.
That will be an unmitigated disaster.

At most that would likely be less than 10% of the workforce so should not be much of a factor in food supply (as there are many more on farms now than required).  Base that on only about 20% of those getting virus become really ill and expectation that less than 50% of population will get virus within the next 2 years.

So much for cancelling Songkran.   I don't see that the Government had any option to a closed down.   However, it could have controlled the exodus.   More will be infected as a result of joining the exodus.

Not a Government with foresight.   But then which are or ever have been.

You know the next thing they will say? Bangkok is virus free the safest city in the world

Right now, ironically, China is the safest country in the world.

Great planning by the big heads. So massive outbreak is to be expected in the provinces. Then once BKK is contained all to return to bring back the virus.

Really really well planned and executed by the experts running the show .

if anything , Anutin should be nominated for Nobel awards

what a wrong move; this was a time to shut down moe-chit and thereby control movement of people.

absolutely - that is what should have been avoided ( the potential of infection due to close contact at moe-chit)

Yet another counter-productive measure by a government.  There seems to epidemic of mindless panic by global governments.

It's up to individuals and families to take effective actions to prorect their own health - the essential hygiene measures are not that difficult - and let's be honest, would you trust any of the current crop of global leaders to protect your family?

Was it that wearing masks, unless you have the virus, is not recommended ... WHO advice!

Today I ventured out to the local shopping mall (had my temp taken ... normal) and ever mother #$@%&* was wearing a mask ... it will not protect you!!!

Wash you bl@@dy hands for gods sake and keep at least 2-mtrs away from the next person.

wearing an N95  mask for more than 15 or  so  minutes is extremely hard  work much harder to breath in some have vents  to exhale
