Hello all,

I will be needing a cell phone when I arrive in Bangkok this Friday. My questions are....

1.) Can I rent one when here? If so where? Does it come with its own charger?

2.) What kind of service should will allow me to call over seas.

You can rent them at the airport but my advice would be to buy a used one at a shopping centre and get a sim card for it. How long you plan to be in country will have a big say on which is more cost effective.

I will only be in Thailand 2 weeks and probably will get a phone as soon as I land. I have to check with my work asap. Thanks for the info.

GSM is the phone band of choice in Thailand. If you can, you should buy an unlocked phone (Razor seem easy to find for good price) in your country. If it is not unlocked they can unlock it in Thailand. You can then buy a sim and when you are done with it, you can save it for a return trip or sell it on ebay as an unlocked phone.
