The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s Social Development Department has given monks at nine temples facemasks and hand-sanitising gels to curb the spread of Covid-19, BMA permanent secretary Silapasuay Raweesangsoon said on Friday (March 27).

The department arranged for 1,800 masks and 270 bottles of gel to be made for the monks of Wat Suthat Thepwararam, Wat Ratchanatdaram, Wat Thepthidaram, Wat Mahannapharam, Wat Bowonniwet, Wat Sangwet Witsayaram, Wat Phrom Wong Saram, Wat Praram 9 Kanchanapisek and Wat Thatsanarun Suntharikaram.

“Each temple will receive 200 masks and 30 bottles of gel,” Silapasuay said. “They were produced by teachers and lecturers at vocational training schools.”

“We’ve already delivered them to Wat Suthat Thepwararam, Wat Ratchanatdaram, Wat Thepthidaram and Wat Mahannapharam and the other five temples will get them by Tuesday.

“All district offices have also been ordered to send staff with cleaning equipment to their local religious sites,” she added.

The BMA has been teaching people how to make masks, providing the fabric and other materials.

As of Friday, BMA and other government and private agencies has made 133,836 masks for the BMA to distribute.

I'd guess it would take a heck of a lot to sanitise them, given their poor reputation judging by news reports of un-monk-like behaviour we often read about.

They will probably sell everything to their believers ...????

BMA assistance available to all other faith's?

Check with your church.   If you don't have one how does it matter?

The BMA is distributing them for use by the equivalent of the clergy, i.e. monks, not the followers of the religion.

Edit:  I know you usually appear to be confused, colinneil, never mind.
