Thais seem to be hiding all the good quality ones, mostly they wear quite good ones, the only ones i can find are the useless ones mainly for show.

 

I do wonder if people will start getting bacterial infections with these masks, it won't help your Corona if you are fighting another infection at the same time

I am not convinced by the 2 metre rule. If you are walking or jogging and someone in front of you coughs, wouldnt the direction and speed of the wind be a factor? If you are directly behind someone, you would be moving into the area they just coughed in.

Good old health minister started down this hatred racism path and now the average Thai is coming off with the same deluded (deleted), I see they now stopped linking every CV infection to a foreigner - at least that's a start

it'd be more realistic, that instead of only showing the country that Reports each case... maybe they should also show how many/Not are their citizens; and where they were the previous 2 weeks...

The facts are masks do help lower the risk of catching and spreading of respiratory diseases (many scientific studies but not sure TV will let me post links here). Please don't fall for the propaganda that masks don't work. Only reason some western countries are saying don't wear a mask for general public is because there are not enough masks to go around.

I’ve seen Thais wearing masks while riding their motorbike. Went to my Makro yesterday, staff were wearing masks except for one at the reception desk, who was protecting her chin with it (probably from some angry fist). I walked up to her, my mask properly adjusted, and asked her why she was wearing a mask at all (in gestures as I don’t speak the lingo)? She laughed and pronounced the sacro sanct leitmotiv « Men pen rai ». So I took my mask off and replied « Men pen rai to you too »

Critical thinking doesn't exist in this country. Educational levels are dismally low...as bad as Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos, despite these countries being much poorer than Thailand. People in these countries act like sheep.

 

Now if the country could get people to comply with traffic laws and shame people who disobey them, I would expect all Thais to sheepishly comply very quickly.

You are quite right. But this applies for enclosed spaces (shops etc..) where virus can stay active in the air for some hours. By all means wear a mask then. But outside, if keeping the safe distances, or not speaking at all (except breathing via your nose anyway), masks are a waste of use. Knowing as well the lifespan of a mask is 3-4 hours, how many masks do you need to spend the day out ? Most locals wear their masks more than three hours, or move them by grasping them with possible infected hands, rather than, as prescribed, by their elastic bands, thus making the wearing of a mask a mere mascarade. But then Thailand is a mascarade in itself. 
And since Thai cannot look at themselves, foreigners are the ideal scapegoats.

Yes 2 meters is probably too little if you go out just keep as far away as possible common sense really.

Because Thais take the blame for nothing, any excuse to pass responsibilty somewhere else - if that person hadn't sent a message to my phone I wouldn't have driven into the back of a truck lol

the were doing this in Thailand with hospital waste - washing them by the thousand in washing machines ironing them and selling them as new - yes dirty farangs - right ?

There was a Westerner who reported that he was told to leave the queue at a large store in Hua Hin last week, he was apparently told that facemasks were for Thai people only and wouldn't be sold one.

I agree.

 

I have a few simple surgical masks (you can even wash them if careful).

 

I wear one:-

• When a place asks me to to permit entry.
• When out in public, purely to protect me from the death stare of the locals.
• When passing through police checkpoints.
• In the office (because it is required).

Does it help protect me or others? Maybe, maybe not although there does seem to be some correlation between mass mask wearing and reduced corona spread.

 

Does it really matter, it's a case of when in Rome (probably not a good example at this time).
