Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) is currently developing a robot nurse to help medical personnel enter patient area, RTAF chief Air Chief Marshal Manat Wongwat said on Thursday (April 2).

He made his remarks during a visit to Conceive Design Implement Operate (CDIO) workplace in Aerospace technology of Navaminda Kasatriyadhiraj Royal Air Force Academy to follow up on research and development work being done.

“The 'RTAF Nursing_Bot' can move by using radio control to deliver food, medicine, and clothes to patients,” he said. “It is equipped with a facial recognition system to measure patients’ body temperature and record the oxygen level in patients’ blood.”

He said that RTAF planned to conduct a test and improve usability in the Covid-19 patient area from April 6 to 9 before delivering 12 units to Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital and Royal Thai Air Force Hospital (Sikan) on April 10.

“In the next phase, we will expand results to meet the needs of medical personnel,” he said.

The RTAF chief also ordered the academy personnel to study the guidelines, sources, and importance of innovation for use in the fight against Covid-19 virus.

Pray tell how it sanitises itself following being in a patients room?

Especially after being touched when delivering meals

Sorry, but I am having real problems with this innovation, Looks like a microwave on wheels, with no radio controls, no hands to wash and a metallic surface to transport covid 19 from patient to patient.

I know the Thais love their facial recognition equipment, but surely this has to be a late April fools joke.
